Latest CG, the clearest example of P2W in ED to date?

So the technical definition in a dictionary is not open for discussion ? So that is the definition we all have to accept ? Ok thanks for agreeing ☺️

Come on, its the forums. If someone quoted the definition of the word "jump" people would argue whether its only a jump if its done with two legs, because a jump with one leg is a hop, and paying someone to lift you up isn't pay to jump because its not actually a jump :p

i respect everyone making a pull against it, but at this moment it kinda is making a mountain out of the mole hill.

The idea is we make a mountain out of it now before it really becomes a mountain. Not that beancounters ever listened to customers, but maybe some people in management will and argue the case against more egregious monetization in the future.

I regret many years ago pushing back against the idea that Engineers was pay to win in any shape or form. I was wrong (but i was more of a fanboy in those days). Yes, it was offset by being part of a large DLC which most people were going to buy anyway, but that didn't make it any less P2W... plus, looking back, it ruined a lot of the balance in the game, especially between big and small ships.

No as the Panther clipper wasn't just released .
It was released on the Tuesday, I hauled only with it ( a few trips as a shakedown), the CG closed on Thursday, not a ton with the Cutter.

I also donated 2.2 mill in the combat CG that ran alongside, so ended up with 2 of the fancy PD modules, both of which adorn my kitty.

I honestly think the shift is a good thing as it brings in more revenue to Fdev so more game going forward.
It doesn't bring in as much as people expect ? the total Arx being paid for is by a smaller and smaller group o

But does that mean a one legged person can't jump ? I thought it was only white folk 🤣sorry .

Unfortunately for both you and me, the customers have taken sides with the beanies, hood line and sinker. Whatcha gonna do.

Agreed... I didn't even think about it that way back then to be honest, but also because at that time I was still sticking to the baby pool Solo mode before I ventured into Open more and more so engineering at that point was already part & parcel of the game for me (I bought Horizons mostly because of planet access, the rest went over my head back then).

In hindsight 100% P2W and quite unfairly so - if you were into PvP at all you basically had to get your wallet out to compete, no contest.

It's already a mountain (which by no means precludes or excuses a larger mountain), but it was piled upon slowly, with advantages kept abstract enough that obtuse pedantry and delusion allow some people to keep from calling it what it's obviously been for eleven years.

The same thing we do every night, Pinky, plot to take over the world argue on the forums about things we can't change.

Frontier hasn't monetized Dangerous Discussion, yet. So, the entertainment we get here is free.

It remains to be seen how much game we get going forward. But I appreciate the clear stance.
Seems mostly OP ships and already existing content/assets repackaged behind new UI screens seems to be the order of the day.

Can't see anything beyond that in scope tbh certainly nothing the size of Odyssey which rules out any juicy expansions that would be part of people's long standing wish lists. I've kinda made peace with it honestly, as I don't believe Frontier has retained the staff experienced enough to fundamentally develop the actual Stellar Forge (beyond plopping some recycled* assets into fixed locations in space or on planets).

*notable exceptions being the Titans and AX surface locations

Nah, money talks..not forums. The opinion that what they're doing has to stop is such a tiny minority that they probably haven't even brought it up in a community meeting.

That's what it's here for

Wait till they add frontier vip verified accounts that can sticky their threads temporarily and have special posting options like better embedding features etc.

Or they bring back community local system news items in the game by making it only available to paid forum accounts that have access to the forum that they're vetted in.

Money on the table fdev.

my main issue to be completely honest about the new ships is less the P2W and more the power creep .
(and funnily enough the extra hauling of the PC2 is the least of my worries)

short term i won't lie it's great. the current 2 CGs you could go from zero to fleet carrier in one go and I can see that being a pretty good rush.
but long term, imo it has completely gutted the entire point of how I play the game so I do fear for the games longevity for me.

I just picked up a python MK2 and put some double engineered cannons on it and it's a complete monster.
I can tear through ships solo in a haz res in seconds and the ship handles better than my vulture (admittedly my vulture is not engineered). but again whilst it's fun being a bringer of death for now.... I do wonder if the game has lost its direction. also where does it end? the logical next step is buffing the npcs which then means all the other ships will be terrible if not meta built

Wait... this isnt the Panther Clipper fan thread and owners club? My bad.

Tried to DM you, but your profile is blocked. Saw your thread was closed for being a duplicate of this one. To me you were wanting to discuss something different. I think its because you mention P2W. Maybe if you remove the reference to P2W and restructure your question it might be considered a unique (and interesting) topic for discussion in its own right.

I cant edit the thread title. Yeah that thread is more about the current revitalization.
There are plenty of reactions and harsh response about Panther Clipper and P2W and all that. I just see a "BIG" road sign that FDEV is probably gonna react to.
I rephrased the thread and tried to post about the current Revitalization direction. We will see how that goes.

Yeah, I suppose forum talks and content creators feasting on Panther or spewing more about P2W ships might hit a nerve.
The general sentiment and over all tone in the forum here is civilized compared to youtube comment sections of various content creators.

If Aunty Agony P2W Panther Clipper thread is the "Shame on you" thread, then I suppose FDEV and mods consider this the "Shame on us" thread.
Like sure, tons of players wanted Panther Clipper.....the beast, the myth , the legend, and there are plenty of reacitons and scolding about it, but Elite is experiencing a revitalization and GROWING PAINS are exactly that.
SO i dunno... it just seems kinda obvious there are some GROWING PAINS that have been happening ever since we won the Thargoid War and started colonizing.
