You can go for one of the RTX 20XX super, even the RTX2060 Super comes with 8gb ram and is a huge performance increase over the 1060 and for just a bit more you can get a RTX2070 Super. They also both support ray tracing, and you likely won't need to upgrade your PSU. They now cost between 400$/500$, but they should drop a bit in the near future.Too bad, there was interesting offerings before this news, and I was planning on updating my 6GB gtx 1060
It's 1st gen, and even on 1080, it's starting to show it's age.
I won't use AMD, my experience with linux has always been better when using nvidia.
For 1080p, unless you want to use VR, these cards will run all there is to be ran currently and in the near future in top settings.
