ANNOUNCEMENT Lavecon 2019 Content Reveal

I'm assuming fleet carriers will only be available to squadrons, who will have overall control over the ship, make decisions on use or destination and what if that person wants to do something or go somewhere the squadron doesn't what's to stop that person just sodding off and making it a solo ship and don't tell me those people aren't in game because they bloody are. Personally would love to own one myself, nothing id like more than sodding off into the black with a ship full of my own ships

There was quiet some talk about them back in the Focussed Feedback section of the old forum, I remember it being said that they would be too expensive to buy and run for any single player part of that being due to they have to be fuelled for every jump by the squadron doing something equivalent to a hauling CG which could well mean weeks between jumps for someone on their own.

I don't see that as an issue - most that are for personal use are just going to be status symbols - so they'll be left parked in popular systems like 4x4s in a city :)

Frontier Points exists since ED was launched on Consoles. That is years already
And it is a store virtual currency, not ingame currency.
You might get some of it in game by simply playing the game, but you can use it only in store to get some fluff that otherwise will cost you real money.
It would be nice if you'd respect that I changed my mind about the post you have quoted, and thus delete your post or remove the now non-existent quote.

Looks rubbish tbf. 5 years in and they're pushing the livery rubbish because it makes them cash. I'm tempted to open a book 1/3 fleet carriers don't come out in 2019.

Also wasting resources on a training vid when it's not that hard to pick up. How about some new gameplay features?? Also if you do pls don't make them a repetitive grind
Now now! Let's wait and see what deep, involved and meaningly mechanics are introduced by Fleet Carriers after all this time and delay. ie: I'm sure some careful consideration by the Designer has gone into ensure they tie tightly into existing game loops to introduce some nice involved ways to bring some great new deep exciting gameplay elements into ED. And they won't just be an excuse to reuse existing X year old gameplay loops over and over for grindtastic shallow game loops based simply around facilitation rather simplistic Fleet Carrier mechanics...

OK another content drop - lovely sure but its pretty - business as usual. Carriers look fun for those with time on their hands, that's a plus and I understand them wanting to make the game easier as its not the same game it was on launch and yup they need to attract new players to milk, but no sir sorry but you're not foolin me with this in game financial nonsense - I ain't parting with no more cash. I like skins (edit) sure but I've maybe bought three in the last 5 years, their nice but they don't get me that excited. And I don't think they will all be suddenly free. I don't expect the whole 'just playing the game' will open them um, be wonderful if it did but likely it will just take us just so far to be an annoyance or it will be limited to certain skins...who knows might be good...

Doesn't work for me sorry and I don't expect the whole 'just playing the game' will make enough to use this new in game money, most likely it will just take us just so far to be an annoyance or it will be limited to certain skins...who knows might be good...

I'm confused ... are you saying you dont currently buy skins? So you still won't be buying them.

*Cosmetic store cash grab. Right... That'll go down well...

Literally the opposite of a cash grab.....or can't you read? They are taking cosmetics from a "purchasable item only" to a "you can now also get them from simply playing the game". Seriously, man, I know you're desperate to hate on Frontier for some reason, but misrepresentation of the facts doesn't do your cause any justice.

As for Space Legs, Atmospherics etc......we are nearly a full year away from that update-so I really wasn't expecting to hear anything about it until December 2019 at the earliest. You need some "expectation management".

Imho the whole free arx points thing won't be something we should be to exited about.
I think they'll just be dripping into your account, just enough to make people sensitive for such thing to stimulate them in buying more so they get a paint with a little discount.
Sure, they're free but it won't be more then a nickel on a dollar.

They're not just gonna hand out store items to you every other week or so.

I've bought a good share of items but I won't spend a nickel anymore untill they do some proper bug fixing.

Great news. Instead of creating a credit-sink, you've gone and created a background time-sink where players are automatically rewarded just for playing, and will now be more pro-active about finding things to do in-game if they want to earn enough for some livery.

I know I am an outlier here but when it comes to cosmetics in ED I would be delighted if I could buy now for £3.99 or earn stuff in game in a matter of a few weeks. What most seem to see as predatory money grubbing and taking advantages of players I see as giving me goals to work for in game.
I say this as someone who is highly unlikely to be pressured to buy anything in store. The last cosmetics I bought I have not even bothered to put on my ships yet. They mean nothing to be exactly because they were not earned in game. (I bought them as a show of appreciation - for SLFs iirc.... Alas it seems development stopped there. At the time I (niavely) thought it was the 1st pass to actual wingmates and actual ships crew.
I am a rare breed who preferred the Kickstarter pitch which was almost universally hated. (Every single thing earnable in game via credits and actions but selling credits for cash in the store..... FD would then have surely not allowed exploits to go unchecked for months and void opals would need actual skill)

Clearly the whiners here would prefer a system where Frontier make us pay $60 per year for a 1 year subscription, then throw in a bunch of paid loot boxes (sorry, "surprise mechanics") containing a mix of Cosmetics & Pay to Win items. After all, that's what the majority of the Triple A game Publishers are doing these days. In the meantime, I've not had to fork out a single cent for Elite Dangerous since December 2015-yet have more play time in it than in the top 3 most played games in my library, combined. Pretty good value for money already, I reckon.....& now they're going to reward me for playing by allowing me to gain cosmetics without having to pay real world cash for them. Pretty sweet deal.

Actually Warframe I would say is a shining example of F2P done right. Yes you can buy gear quicker with money but equally you can play and have a lot of fun without spending a penny. (That said ED is not F2P and I would not want the exact model in ED either)

When was the last time Frontier made you pay for the game though? Pay to Win in MMO's is BAD GAME DESIGN.

Beyond was a brilliant expansion for me-& it didn't cost me a cent. So definitely a sweet deal.
Good for you, but for those of us who were expecting progress on elite feet or further classes of planet to land on, it's been lean pickings for 5 years. Not a sweet deal.
