Horizons LET THERE BE LIGHT on Mining Lasers

I think that Mining Lasers should come with Lights, like a Multi Light Bar,
similar to what you see on Off Road Pickup Trucks, and other vehicles (4 lights on a Bar).


I would also like to see an Overall Improvement on the Ship Lights,
they are permanently stuck in Low Beam Mode, how about a High Beam for Ships lights.[wacky]

The lights are just about acceptable for mining. When you get within striking range for the mining laser, the asteroid is lit up well enough and gives an immediate indication you are close enough.

If they were a lot brighter, they would give us more help in avoiding asteroids while bounty hunting in RES sites, but perhaps they have been balanced to reduce that kind of advantage. Only guessing here.

Possibly sure. I just view it as FD not knowing how light actually works or what "minimum useful distance" means. Anything bigger than a cobra and that rock ain't lit up until you've practically mated with it.

Yea, don't like to BH in the dark, even though you can still see the rocks, you can't estimate the distance you are from it too well in the dark, and since the targets light up when you select them at a distance brighter than the asteroids, and they may be on the other side of an asteroid, but you can't see if an asteroid is between you and the target, so you boost in their direction and "Wham!" stupid rock. Nope, if the Res Site is in the dark, will go find one that is in the light, even if its a low res, hunting won't be as lucrative, but at least I can see better. Forget bout the lights on the ship, they are basically worthless in this case, yeah, they light up the rock, but not soon enough to allow you to avoid them.

A Question: Why does everything show up on your radar EXCEPT Asteroids ?

We should have a Mining radar setting, or the Radar should auto set when Limpets are active.

All asteroids show up on the radar. However they use a different scale than other objects. Otherwise it would be a giant mess.

Try getting really close to one or zooming the scanner all the way out.
