CQC Let us know your thoughts on CQC in here

Anyone have trouble finding matches the last couple of days? I like CQC for when I just want a quick distraction and don't have the time to get anything "done" in game but when I logged on to look I couldn't find any games in team or deathmatch. Haven't tried capture the flag mode. I quite like it though. There's something relaxing about the CQC minnigame. No consequences and occasionally some very slick piloting.

Yeah, the queue system is pretty messed up or the player population is really low, probably a combination of both. :(

if we only knew were were in a que and not just at the end of a dead connection, some info like, connection ok , you are No.27 in the que..........

im online just now watching the, SEARCHING FOR MATCH screen.....

A bit bit of feedback from FD would be nice, is the game broke, or just no players?

Just "won" a CQC round, except I lost it: exact same score as enemy (who kept kill stealing all game, issue I already mentionned) and .... He won it, because he somehow had the same score as me, while he had 4 deaths, and I had 0.

GG

Also yes, the matchmaking is completely, utterly ed... Or the kill stealing issues, or other stupid problems (putting rank 30 players against beginners for instance) got the best of CQC players.

A good game can be fun even when losing, a bad one is annoying, even if you win. And currently, I feel like the latter towards the CQC mode, no matter how good fights can get.

High ranked noobs (well that's a thing, since those guys are all in eagles, thinking I can't pick them up visually and staying static when I shoot them with fixed weapons) are all in stealth eagles, camping the out of everything and exploiting the mode's MASSIVE problems at max, CTF is empty, people are mixed in completely random ways and you end up losing TDMs with players on your team that have 0/15....

FD you really need to fix CQC ASAP.

I think people with K/D like this should only be allowed to fit only one weapon on their Condor:

What i noticed alot while in the Beta . Is that CMDR's with a high Skill/ K/D tend to disconnect midgame when getting crushed by another player .
There should be a penalty for disconnect mid game. But this is probably as debate-able as the combat log "mechanics".

On topic : CQC is great ! , but havent played it after beta much.

I just can not bring myself to trying CQC.
My multiplayer/pvp aversion seems just too stubborn to overcome.
It would be great if there was a practice mode against AI that enabled me to ease myself into it very, very slowly.
As it is now it is very unlikely I will ever try it out.

I like it, I have had lots of fun playing it and will play again. The Condor is a blast.

But... I still have the feeling it is a separate game and should be kept separate and not be flagged up in the actual game as a rank on my control panel. When I am in ED I kinda roleplay in my head and as I skirt Sag A, an arcade game (fun though it is) ranking on my HUD just doesn't fit for me.

Its not a huge deal but it would nice to have the option to not see it...

For me CQC seems like a big "SORRY WE ARE NOT A FPS, but look, we have this" billboard.

Given that the actual Elite game is such a great simulation and has that big amazing galaxy to play with, why did it need this? If people want to pew pew a la FPS, there are plenty of games that deliver that probably much better and refined than CQC. No need for Elite to try to advertise those games in their game.

Having said that, sometimes I do play it when I have like half an hour or less with nothing better to do and can't get anything done in the main game in that short period. But I could live perfectly without it. As with PP.

I'm sorry but you're incredibly wrong about this. There are not plenty of other games that deliver the unique experience of ED dog-fighting. The closest thing is perhaps Star Citizen, but their idea of dog fighting is turrets in space. FPS games are nothing like this... not by a long shot.

I thoroughly enjoy the experience and find the open game to be completely boring and a massive waste of time to do anything meaningful. I enjoy PVP combat and fighting AI gets super boring. I also enjoy piloting small ships as they are nimble and fun to fly. PVP in open is basically large ships shield cell tanking each other flying circles around each other... not that interesting to do.

Different strokes for different folks, but you're wrong about there being plenty of games that deliver the same dog fighting (in space) experience that ED can.

I don't play CQC much right now, but I do like it a lot. However, I don't think it should be accessible by the main menu. We should have to dock at a station to play in it.

I like them both a great deal. CQC could use some polishing on the matchmaking front. I'd like to know if there are others trying to get a match on or if it's just me, for example. I'd also like the ability to text the others in the "waiting room". There are definite improvements that can be made, but overal I've had a lot of fun playing it and will continue to do so (if I can ever find a match again).

I'm sure you meant war thunder in space, with unproper analog controls and devs yelling it's all realistic all around to avoid people saying it's just broken.
ED has proper space dogfight like I've never seen before. I've been a great fan of much more arcade space sims like X (rip) just as much as I love Elite's ACTUAL newtonian physics. SC however fails to deliver both.

With that said, to the other poster:
CQC is NOWHERE close to any FPS atm.
Hell, I wish we still had map control and powerups in maps in FPSes nowadays, only sims deliver proper gameplay ATM, and current arcade shooters are mostly crap for console pleb. I can't wait for UT 2015 to give a good kick in the anthill.

CQC is great, but it needs some serious balance work done. Kill steals and unproper matchmaking are ruining it all. Having guys making builds based on kill stealing in DM ruins the game as much as having teams made completely randomly to the point you end up with people who only ever manage to get 1 kill for 20 deaths against a team of people with the complete opposite.

TL;DR,
DM is ruined by kill steals and teaming up, TDM is ruined by completely stupid matchmaking, and CTF probably suffers the same fate - I guess it's why people don't play it, either that or the matchmaking is completely broken. On a side note, why not an unranked server browser? :/

Yep, the last hit kill stealing is pretty lame, I am guilty of this as with my style of flying I shoot at anything that is an opportune target in my sights, and that often results in me stealing the kill. I hope they change it to more of a % damage done within x amount of time before death.

The matchmaking queue system is completely broken right now. I was on Twitch seeing if anyone streaming was doing CQC. I saw a group of guys in a lobby of 4 waiting for more players, I queued up and never once got into that game, and their game never started either. Not sure if this was because my skill rating was too high compared to them or what, regardless it takes way too long to get into games and that is driving people way.

FDev has a lot of work ahead of them if they really want to mature CQC and make it more than just an afterthought. I hope they do because I absolutely love the gameplay, it feels fantastic.

Liked it in Beta, although matchmaking was often a sore spot.

I won't wait more than 5 minutes for a match- especially with no idea of what the heck is happening.

Unfortunately, FD birthed this despite the Beta feedback and the current feedback is mostly the same as in Beta; matchmaking often doesn't work at all or takes at least 30 minutes. There needs to be a lobby system of some type with chat, possibly server browser or ability to fly against AI. Also, an 8v8 game should be able to start at 1v1 after a time limit and then dump new players into the instance as they come available.

I tried to play again tonight and just sat there waiting for players, watched a couple drop off in frustration and finally dropped off myself, all team modes. CTF didn't appear on the menu...?

Come-on FD, you can do better. CQC has got to get some fixes or a really large part of the player base that would like to jump in occasionally for some pew-pew just won't bother.
