Lets test this persistent universe and see if FD are true to their word.

((Type 9's are giving 22k. EDIT: Actually it may not be the Type 9 - Might have been a Fed Dropship... Gah - Memory is failing))

Managed to get myself jumped by a fed CMDR tonight. Wasn't paying attention and had to eject. Feds are outsourcing their enforcement of parking fines. Fargers! Anyway a beer and a whisky or three later and my replacement ship was ready. Managed to get in on an attack on a convoy by some of the CSG navy. Lots a small fed fighters with a few eagles and cobras, and a viper or two buzzing around a type 9. No idea what they were transporting on that type 9. Didn't care. Its floating in the dark now whatever it was.

I'm thinking that either way the war goes... we may have to try a few times to Free Lugh.

Meh. I'm gonna stick around till it happens. All these newcomer feds will find something else to interest them, and they wont stick around forever.

Also, my new Vulture looks siiiiiick.

Can ANYONE explain the fact, that the independent Dominion of Lugh is suddenly at 38% influence? Who is fighting for that faction and WHERE? AND why i got allied (i was neutral before the war) with the Federation, when all i do is killing Feds in the conflict zones?

I dont think anyone fights for those factions.

I think the didnt like to be hit so hard, and rolled over and did some obscure stuff because it doesnt like to be treated that way.

Don't panic. It's buggy. FD are sorting through it now. Then you can panic.

things i noticed: killing ships in warzones will result in rep growth of the dominant faction in that system regardless of the killed ships side in the battle.
combat bonds were doubled since release of 1.2 they are now
fed fighter 2000
eagle 4000
viper 10000
cobra 8000
dropship 18000 (not sure)
asp 16000 (not sure)
python 22000 (not sure)
anakonda 34000 (not sure)
correct me on these if im wrong =)

thoughts about :
war is never good for the ppl that are affected, so its logical that the factions that are the origin will loose influnce over time.
plus the amount of ships, that equal power in a certain way ingame, are reduced by the war.
your guesses?

something truly goes wrong

may all this because of this bug? https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=125628&p=1933331#post1933331

The only one picking fights is you. Everyone else is enjoying themselves

???

A rather nasty assumption on your part old boy; I'm not picking fights. Just asking questions (and injecting a little sardonic humor).
I'll leave you to your bravado. It is obvious I've hit a nerve.

If you read that closely you will see that in fairness to David that he never said that. There are no quotation marks are around 'and it did work'. this looks like a journalist taking poetic licence and presenting a quote in a way that suits his own purposes.

Just like in Lugh, never trust the mainstream media! :)

Looks like there were no quotation marks because of the structure of the article and indeed what was written was a direct quote from David.

No matter, I just assumed he was correct but, obviously he was not. I'm going to attempt to contact the author for clarification but, I'm not counting on a response.

After killing hundreds of fed ships I am now friendly with them. I think the rep system is bugged. It is giving rep for the wrong faction. I am losing rep with CSG even though that is who I fight for.

Folks, FD are looking at the numbers to see what's happened - as you can imagine those numbers don't represent what's going on in Lugh whether we are winning or not. Don't know details but hopefully they'll have things fixed up later. They're also working on the combat bonds influence bug that Roybe and the Mercs saw last night.

Fingers crossed that all will be good by this evening and we can get on with the fight for liberation!

Shaking my head folks. I would like to thank the Emperor's Grace and the Mercs of Mikunn for the catch on the influence, great catch.

For those wondering about the state of the alliance with these groups, we are still solid, personally. These are great folks to play with, extremely professional. I can only recommend them with the highest regard, anyone interested in the background sim, and plenty of good and fun gameplay to sign up with them. Regardless of the outcome, once committed these players give a massive effort. Unfortunately, due to the state of the game, they are currently letting their membership support us voluntarily until this issue is cleared up.

To those members of these groups, continuing on with us, through these problems we are truly grateful for the assistance. You have the patience of saints. We also understand the frustration of those who are waiting on answers and hope they are done so satisfactorily enough to warrant your return.

To FDEV, please look at these forums. You have a community of people that want to live a life within your game. Much of the hew and cry comes from passion for the game. Those of us playing this event have expended effort tirelessly, for each other, and on your behalf, to make this event as fun and inclusive as we could and we know you are trying to do the same.

This post points to the main issue that has caused the consternation:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=71327&p=1933508&viewfull=1#post1933508

Ofreboy has correctly pointed out that the author used a little journalistic sleight of hand in the article.

However, in the end, we are players. We want, above all, fairness and equality, within any game. No one wants to play a game where an outcome is a given. That is not a game, nor a sandbox, it is a novel. We as players want to see your stories develop, whether Onionhead, Empiric succession, or the fight of the Alliance to maintain their freedom from the other galactic powers. We also want to see the community push their stories, not to logical conclusions, but to conclusions that our game play, prowess (or lack thereof), brings us to. Bugs aside, this is the heart of the concern. We understand your desire to maintain a 'black box' around the background sim. Those of us playing it appreciate that, it has always been my personal belief that it should be so. However, this idea does have some problems, this situation brings the issue to the fore. To make all this work, requires trust from the community, particularly when the game play feels unsupported by the outcome. This is my attempt to reach out on the players behalf to explain where we see a problem. When bugs arise in this type of event, within this type of galaxy, with these types of results...it raises questions that should never have to be asked.

We all understand, bugs happen. What I want to impress upon you, and the community, is that for this game to work as designed, we all have to trust each other that the illusion we share is malleable by the dreamers as well as the actors within the dream.

I doubt it. Journalists have to be very careful how they structure quotes. The fact there are none around that part is hardly an accident. Publications get sued all the time for that sort of thing. If your theory was right then you would be saying the writer went to the trouble of taking a full quote and moving the qutation marks on purpose to make it look like he didn't actually say it when he really did.

I can't see any magazine writer doing that for the fun of it. If David did actually say that in full then I can see no reason why the sentence would not just be left the way it was.

It seems fairly certain bugs are at play. Even the sharp rise that the Federation took yesterday also included sharp rises for DOL and LDF. Why?

Who is fighting for LDF and DOL?

Why would they jump up to 12 or 13%?

I did actually notice this yesterday but held back from pointing out because I thought Federation players would just think I was full of sour grapes or whatever but todays results pretty much confirm it.

I'm confused. Are you saying the article misrepresented David's responses or actually quoted him?
I emailed David to ask if he was misrepresented in the article. Hopefully I'll get a response.

What I am saying is that a journalist is not going to go to the trouble of saving Davids bacon for him on his own behalf. If David said that it would just be quoted as is. The fact is though that it is not and that to me suggests an attempt to mislead the reader by creativly constructing sentences in a perticular way. The quotation marks are not around the statement. All I am saying is I do not believe this is an accident.

I am no fanboy or idol worshipper by the way, but I am aware that the media misquotes people all the time. If David really did say that then he should not have. But what I see from the evidence in fairness to David is a writer looking to write a good article and taking poetic licence.

I myself have suffered the same thing in the past and it can be amazing when you read what somebody 'says' that you said...

Did that post cause consternation? That wasn't intended, perhaps my written tone upon reading what I did sounded too exasperated.

Is is there another thread about it somewhere? Otherwise people just seemed curious about the interview... If any, only minor consternation.
