Lets test this persistent universe and see if FD are true to their word.

I had some fun outside Hartsfield, thank you for the invite. Not being hugely wealthy I opted for the Eagle and I have to say that that ship is very fun to fly. My weapons are a little weak though, what would you recommend?

Elite really needs a open comms/ text channel for events like this. Are they going to include this in the new patch?

I recommend a laser / kinetic mix, because the Eagle is a little limited in the power department and you really want the bonus damage against the hull given its lacking firepower. My two preferred setup were two fixed bursts below and one gimballed MC on top or one gimballed beam on top and two fixed canons below. Other setups may be more adapted to your fighting style though, but try to keep one gimballed weapon on top, where it will have the best tracking range in a turning fight, and two fixed mounts on the bottom for maximum damage.

Also, armor is useless on an Eagle. Even with military grade armor it is still made of glass and you can really feel the 8t of added weight affecting her awesome maneuverability, which is her main strength. Try to keep two to four pips in ENG at all time to maximize this advantage. It will also allow you to boost often and compensate for her relatively low speed. But do not hesitate to switch to 4 in SYS and 2 in ENG if realize you won't be able to stay out of an enemy cone of fire in time. A shieldless Eagle is a beaten Eagle. Don't hesitate to retreat if you have a depleted / low shield and have the opportunity to do so. But remember : you are slow but maneuverable, so if you don't have the opportunity to flee, try to stay on their six, where they won't be able to shed your hull. And its useless to keep any pips in SYS while your shield is broken and not regenerating.

Yes !
Here is the full changelog of the beta. Beware : the level of awesomeness may be dangerous for vulnerable persons :D

I had a great time last night, only 70k of bounty, but I spent most of my time trying to keep CSG members and the target in view. I can put the videos up on youtube tonight or if someone wants to edit them I can share them with you. PM me if you want to edit.

I agree with Generic in that half the time yesterday was spent struggling with matchmaking. That will improve immensely with Wings! Looking forward to that.
And as ED_CSG said on twitter, maybe i only did 8 kills, but nothing counts the assists! The most fun i had was helping people out when they went one-on-one, those vipers are no fun on your own and the little pesky condors are hard to keep on target...
So Thank You all for last night! Great fun, also in just seeing you all together, that was awe-inspireing and mighty.

I sloped into Lugh late last night and did a mission (which boosted Boom. Sorry.) and killed a couple of LfE chaps before bed. Hopefully tonight I'll be able to make more of an impact.

Is there a list of which sorts of missions affect which sorts of states? I'd like to lend some non-con assistance but don't want to make Boom more likely than I can help.

Cool! Your video is probably better than mine... Turns out that the video bandwidth that's fine for slow pans across static views aren't good enough for dynamic combat :(

Mad-Max: @ED_CSG is me!

Grats, today i also bought my Python but now i need lots of fittings. Need more Money but yeah...finally the Ship is there at least.

Grats !

This Python is a really amazing ship ! And you can use it for trading also with its 256 tons cargo hold.

I know, Nightstorm, i just wanted to promote it more to newcomers. And thanks for the fight last night. Btw, i noticed that our weapon setup is quite similar, beams and multis. Must be a favorite...

Oh, oops, sorry :p Re loadout, yeah, I think big beams is a favourite if you want to stay in the fight for a long time. I think Anaconda hunters tend to put kinetic weapons in the 2 slots, but I'm rubbish at that!

I did enjoy seeing hearing "target shields offline" and then all the players switched from lasers to multi-cannons!

Well isn't that nice? I would not worry too much about them being in lockdown. It should only last a few days and will not be a big barrier to war. They also still have civil unrest critical so who knows what that will bring or how long it might last? That is an unknown.

At this point it would probably be better to go back to interdictions to pare LDF, LFE and DOL down. I say this only because trading on our part will trigger a boom or on the other hand we could continue our campaign which would certainly be faster crushing LFE but will also increase the standing of DOL and LDF. They stand to gain .3% each from LFE's demise by our current route. We also only stand to gain a .3% slice of that pie.

Lockdown has ensued because LFE cannot police the system. They have had to call in the army to contain the situation. Be aware now that there will be lots of Federal Navy ships in the system. These are different to normal police ships in that they are more powerful but also you will damage your reputation with the Federation by attacking them. I have no love for the Feds but I am already unfriendly. Should I reach hostile I do not know how I could bounce back from that. Many of you will be in the same boat. Michael said in a recent update that hostile parties will no longer be able to land in allied ports anymore and will receiv access denied messages. This will bar you from a lot of stations in ED so think about this before you decide to go to war with the Federal Navy.

It won't be long now before we have war. I would like to induce a civil unrest upon LFE and bury them for good! If this is successful it could mean the dismemberment of LFE and their demise. It seems only fitting for that scum. If we do this how can we not have war? They are the controlling faction of the system. At that point you need the army to run things and that means a full scale invasion by the Federation in my eyes...

My only question is why do we have aquisition ships in the system? Are they not the symptom of a boom? Could it be possible we are in a boom already and the screen is not telling us? Can somebody check system view and see if it matches the ship monitor?

Wouldn't running Federation missions from non-federation stations increase your rep? If so it would be a long, hard slog but possible to redeem yourself in federal eyes.

Although you might not get offered any missions if you were hostile, I suppose.

You could be right but I do not know for sure.

So what are those aquisition ships all about? I see they are here to exploit the LFE lockdown but how does selling things to them effect things? Is that a means to hurt them further?

At the moment they still let you dock at a station even if you are hostile with the major faction. And you can repair your reputation with trading. I went from hostile to unfriendly yesterday with the federation while trading between two federal systems and stations. Thiana and Kutkha in my case. But it needs a lot of time.

Hurry up man... Hurry up! :)

Seriously though, reputation with who?

I am hoping for some footage from Cavendish and Prunariu too. Anything would do... :)

Oh by the way, thanks for saving my skin from that Anaconda last night. I got a little over excited there and assumed all my backup would be there but soon found I was on my own. He flamed me and you came in just at the important moment that let me escape! :)

Violence erupts as the fire of Lugh spreads...

Shockwaves spread accross across Federation space last night with furthering reports of violence in the troubled Lugh system. Barely reeling from the decimation of the night before, the Federal 'Lugh for Equality' defence forces rallied in defence of system control as another vicious strike was unleashed by the group calling themselves 'The Lugh Freedom Fighters'.

Stretched to their limit, the Federal police ships found themselves engaged with no less than three separate battles raging in orbit of Cavendish Ring, Prunariu Orbital and Hartsfield Market in the same night. The resonance from these attacks has left the once powerful and stable Lugh for Equality Government at the point of collapse as its leaders now squabble and lay blame amongst their own ministers. The situation in Lugh now seems to be unravelling to such an extent that lack of confidence in governmental ability to contain this situation has resulted in Federal Naval forces are now deploying in the system to maintain some form of control.

Meanwhile, the Crimson State Group representatives are gaining popularity amongst the common folk even in Alliance space, in their campaign for a free and independent Lugh. As of yet there has been no official response from Alliance representatives.
