Even though I am a lifetime expansion backer, I see no reason to limit extra slots to us. If they offer more slots, everyone should get access to that.
Problems? Really? They can simulate an entire galaxy but they can't link three accounts through a single launcher? I don't believe that for a second. The only problem they've got is the number of lost sales that will result if they implement this feature and people stop buying second and third accounts as a workaround.
I just wish they'd stop stringing people along. If "three slots" has gone the way of offline mode, just be honest and tell us. Lie about the reasons if necessary, but tell us once and for all that it's not coming. Some of us will rage "rip-off, never again" for a week or two, some of us will immediately go and buy the additional slots we've been holding out for, and many of us will no doubt be hypocrites and do one followed by the other. But at least the uncertainty will be over.
I seem to remember them saying something like "...once we make the player profiles' account based rather than commander based". Something along those lines anyway.
I'm still holding out for a second or third save slot....it would be very cheeky if they now asked us to pay for the privilege. I'd be surprised if they do that, and I won't volunteer to pay extra.

The Horizons beta has not started yet - I suspedt it will start in October / November timeframe but nobody knows for sure as they have not announced a date.
Do you already hae the original ED? If not, I believe (but not 100% sure) that the LEP includes immediate access to the original game as well, so you should at least be able to download the current game.
The Horizons package also includes the original game, but you won't be allowed to download it until release.

Short time lurker, 1st time poster here with a couple of questions (possibly stupid ones).
I too purchased the LEP yesterday - essentially I'm wondering what (if anything) different I should see in my account at Frontier or in the game/launcher etc. Payment went through ok - I have the receipt etc & under 'my orders' in the account menu order status is 'complete' for the LEP. There is nothing in 'my downloadable products' & no difference (that I notice) to my launcher or game. Does that sound about right at this stage? or should I be seeing something in the 'downloadable products' section at least?

I bought the lifetime pass as part of my kickstarter pledge, so may have a different perspective than many.
One thing I think might help some of the general angst is if FD would allow some sort of upgrade to a lifetime pass for people that buy enough individual season passes. As things stand at current prices, the lifetime pass runs at a loss to you if you would have only bought 3 season passes, but becomes a profit if you would have bought 4 or more. So why not offer to convert to a lifetime pass if you buy 4 season passes. It would end up more expensive, but not that much more, so effectively that bit extra is the price for the ability to change your mind.

I think you're fine as it is. Your experience has been the same as mine so far, having purchased the LEP on their site after logging in with my Elite: Dangerous account there.

Because the point of the lifetime pass is to give FD upfront money, if they do what you asked no one would purchase the lifetime pass. It has zero benefit to FD to upgrade people to the lifetime pass. All lifetime passes are two edge swords for MMO's, sure they get a lot of upfront money, but in the long run they get less. For instance I purchased the lifetime pass back when it was $50, that means that this first season covers the cost and its now payed for. So now FD will not get any money from me for every single season that comes after this next one. If they run the 10 years they are talking about they lost ~$450 in income from me. Assuming you purchase the lifetime pass now, FD has lost $200 over the course of those 10 years per person that purchases it.
If FD allowed an upgrade then FD would get nothing after the 4th year and would not have funds to continue to make seasons.
Besides the LEP I got just recently, I've bought a fair share of paint jobs as well, so personally, I'm not too worried about FD getting more than enough out of me to continue to cover costs and profits for developing and supporting content for me into the future. Of course, that's just my portion of the bill.
I primarily got the LEP as an investment into FD and ED and also because I wanted to have access to the beta testing. I had missed out on the Kickstarter, alpha, and beta for ED, or else I would have been a backer for it. It's right up my ally, as they say. I didn't know about it coming out until I saw it listed on Steam. Shame, I know, but I've made up for it now, I'd say.

think i read somewhere that the life time expansion pass is going away in a month.
Well my support ticket said that I dont have the lifetime pass and it only showed up as a cancelled transaction.. Funny thing is that the cancelled transaction was 3 days after the date that is shown for lifetime pass in my downloadable items section. Meh. Im not gonna push the issue with them. either way Ive paid for horizons and if the LEP stays on my account then win, win.
