List of Earth-like worlds, v3

Welcome to the List of Earth-like Worlds! You can find the new version of the list at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12WDcf8DV63_5mJ9kZkJ0MrpinXZhoV6u9_n_nsu19fM/edit?usp=sharing. The explanation of the changes can be found in this post.

The previous version of the list, which is no longer updated, but includes some counts, charts and such which have since been removed, can still be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wo53h4TkUTTRNzkup6HAKpFe0hAtX82HNc4h33bTRaE/edit?usp=sharing

Now, the important information for submitting entries. Please use EDJP, or upload to the public spreadsheet (here), or this example form for submitting your entries:

If none of the above are used, and you just list the names of ELWs, I won't be adding them.

Contrary to before, it's fine if you add an entry without a screenshot if the ELW has been uploaded to EDSM. However, if you wish to be verified as the first discoverer of the planet(s) in question, please submit a screenshot that includes text which shows that the planet is Earth-like, preferrably a system map shot with the planet info. If there's no screenshot, just the EDSM entry, then the first discoverer will be marked as unverified, and you'll be listed as the contributor. (Submissions with no screenshots and the ELWs not uploaded to EDSM won't be added.)

If you'd like to add your entries into a spreadsheet yourself, to make it easier and faster for me to add them, please go to https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FvE1qKIvZY9_pgvD9FwLPP6YMLeka6kHyt4F3W51Se4/edit?usp=sharing. After you add stuff there, do notify me please so that I don't accidentally miss it! Also, if you'd like to have your separate sheet there that only you can edit, let me know and I'll set that up for you.

Notes on the sheet:
  • If you decide to post your finds here, I won't be removing them later on request. Note that this only applies to finds made after 2017. Jun. 25, as that was when I made this clear.
  • Incomplete submissions will still be listed (on a separate sheet), but will not have a rarity score nor will they be used in the calculations.
  • If the "Submitted by" entry is empty, that means it was submitted by the first discoverer.
  • Only Earth-like worlds are counted, water worlds or any other planet types are not.
  • Earth-likes in inhabited systems at the time of their submission do not count. To qualify, the system must have allegiance type 'None' on the galaxy map. Earth-likes that were colonized some time after they were added to the list won't be removed, just noted as such.
  • Once I've added your post to the list, I'll notify (and also thank) you by adding rep, unless I can't.
  • An explanation of how the rarity score is calculated can be found in this post and some changes in this later one as well.
  • If you find any errors, please let me know!

Sources and contributions beyond submitting entries:
  • Glyn-ie, for creating the original list and also for suggestions on this one
  • MattG for lots of things, including the map mentioned above and providing help (ideas, troubleshooting) with the rarity score calculation
  • Jackie Silver for work on decoding the proc. gen system names and helping determine approximate in-sector positions for them
  • Albreicht, for help with maintaining the list for some time
  • SpocksOddSocks, for looking up the regions of lots of the non-procedural systems
  • Myser, for some initial editing and testing
  • Everybody who submitted entries to the list - see them on the "Submitters" sheet!

See the "Misc" sheet for the post number of the latest update.

WOW. Nice thread. Rep +1.
Nice to see you took the idea of glynie one step further. I like the screenshots section for proof ;-)

I've added it to EDCodex. Also created a post in my third party tools thread- the info in EDCodex is more elaborate.
Before EDCodex will be released you (like all other authors) with tools/threads in EDCodex (approx 150 atm) will receive an invitation PM with a ready made account so you can edit/enhance your entry/entries - if you deem that useful. EDCodex is being coded by biobob.

Update: Edcodex has been publicly released on the 17th of August 2015.
Release thread: EDCodex. The complete list of third-party tools for Elite Dangerous - Community driven

Thanks, both of you!

Also, a request to any commanders in or near Sol: could you tell me the distances for HD 149306, HIP 753 and HIP 43286? These can still be searched on the galaxy map. (I'm just usually far from Sol.)

And I'll post my new discoveries here in the thread too, instead of just silently adding them to the list. Here we go then, the result of an expedition roughly two weeks long: nine planets, including one orbiting a cool solitary M4 star.

Just got back from SAG A, found a few earthlikes but didn't read this thread until near the end of the voyage so I don't have the exact distances to sol, but I did screenshot the rough position on gal map so can give an estimate.

I made some small changes to the first post, so I'm posting them here to let you know.
First, I've added this line to the notes: "Once I've added your post to the list, I'll notify (and also thank) you by adding rep."
Second, I've decided to strike the line where if there's no "First discovered by" tag on your screenshot, I'd only list you as the contributor. Right now, with the galaxy map search bugged, it's a pain to search for the procedural systems, so I'll trust everyone's claim on this. Should any disputes arise, we'll deal with them then. (A single screenshot could settle those anyway.) Of course, if the screenshot lists that the body was already discovered by someone else, then they will be credited for it, and you for the contribution.

Also, welcome to the newest member on the list, CMDR Cliff Cliffson!

First off, I have some good news: I've found a workaround for the galaxy map search bug. It only works for systems that don't have "sector" in their names, but that's good enough for me.
For example, say you want to look up "SYNUEFAI GU-H C26-17". You paste that into the search box, and hit it a couple of times. It usually finds it for me on the third try. If it doesn't, then that's probably because you're too far away: in that case, you should just enter the region ("SYNUEFAI") first, and once it zooms there, then you can try hitting the exact search again.

Anyway, this means that I've started adding the exact star types to systems. It is going to take a good while to complete, but at least now it's getting there. (It's currently around 10% complete.) If anyone would be willing to help with this, let me know - I'd very much appreciate it, and even a little help could speed things up a lot.

I also have a couple of new entries for the list:

If you have already posted a list to Glyn-ie's thread after he stopped updating his thread, does this info need to be re-submitted to this thread?

So there is a system with 4 Earth likes? I totally missed the post, if there ever was one.
Yep. I only realized this too when I set up the calculations. It's "SPEAMOEA WU-E D12-543", discovered by CMDR TYLAR, and here's the screenshot. Remarkable, isn't it?

Not really, as I check that list from time to time, and do add things from there. Looking at it now again, I see that after updates were closed, you posted some system names there, but didn't post any screenshots showing that the planets are Earth-likes. Glyn-ie didn't require this, but I do. (Otherwise, there's too much room for error - for example, typo in the system name, typo in the planet designation, wrong planet type. These have happened before, and without a screenshot, it's much more difficult to verify things.) So, in your case, if you could post an updated version of your list, I'll add them.

A neutron star only 5524 ly-s from Sol, with two binary Earth-likes? That's an excellent find. I'll definitely visit the place when planetary flight will be available.
Also, I believe that we only had one solitary class B star with an EL before.
Lastly, welcome to the list!

Oh, and as I was going through his submissions, I realized that I should add one more information about entries: namely, if the planets have rings. It's going to take some time to add this to all the entries too, but it should be interesting to see how many there will be.

This is a great list!! Repped and it is wonderful you are keeping it alive!!

This should be stuck in the Exploration Forum!!

Just arrived this weekend from a very long trip, and I think I have some 10-12 ELP's that will be posting here as I sort out all the data I collected!

Excellent job CMDR!

Yeah, i thought it was a good find - 2 ELWs & a WW, in a system where someone 'honked & went'!!!
