Also, welcome back and thanks for using the spreadsheet format! Looks like you've been adding to it while you were exploring. In the future, you'll probably want to use the new format, but I'll look up the star types and add them of course - no need for you to edit this now.

Oh, and EOR AOC KX-U D2-4473's screenshot is actually a duplicate of NGC 6200 Sector TK-C B14-8. Could you fix this please?

@ Edelgard von Rhein: Yep, and mass code B systems (Swoiwns AH-Y b6-4) are quite rare too. Also, I didn't know you got a bonus for carrying secretive passengers and not being scanned. I just carried one home too, only to be scanned as I was coming in to land, and the passenger turning "miserable". Welp. Thankfully, that didn't mean a payment decrease from the original reward, but now I wonder how much I might have lost with this. Do you happen to remember how big your bonus was?

My return date will be May 22nd. (will make this trip 18 months to the day). I have 71 1st discovery's so far. my goal is 100. I should be able to blow that away.
But when it gets down to it; Marx I'm going to need some advice on how to post all my data for your records.
I'm a bit confused and unsure what to do.
There's still ~ 6 months to go though.. things might change.

The base contract was for 5.5MCr and I got 6.2MCr after returning my passenger home. This is the first secretive passenger I've had (I do not take the numerous criminal masterminds and wanted passengers), so I don't know if this is representative but it wouldn't surprise me if they are typically in the region of 10%. She was also averse to danger and I came home without either hull or module damage, so that might have had an effect - though it was nearly a different story as getting my Federal Dropship through the airlock cold and fast was tricky!

HIP 5390 is a ringed ELW not far below the Bubble. I stumbled across it in beta where it was untagged but little hope of it being so for real :)

Pru Euq XO-X c28-18 was a bit weird as two CMDRs had tagged the main stars but both had left the ELW untouched!

Question about atmospheres and temperature - is a 5% water content and a higher oxygen content in the atmosphere enough to significantly increase a planet's temperature? I only ask because of Plaa Aec UB-K c22-4.

As you can see, planet 1 is 260K (equal to the lowest temperature for an ELW on record as far as I'm aware). Yet, planet 3 is 120ls further out, has a lower density atmosphere, but is 310K - a whole 50 degrees warmer! The ony other possible factors are the silicate magma (unsure if this could affect the temperature) and the binary partner (something related to tidal effects, but not sure this could be significant if even at all contributary).

Another strange thing was that only 3 systems later I found another ELW with a temperature of 260K:

Yup, water vapour is a potent greenhouse gas. There's only about 0.5% in our atmosphere.

First off: if you already have write access, you don't necessarily need to post all your stuff here, feel free to just insert your finds to the sheet. I plan on coming up with some solution so that anyone can submit their finds more directly, which will probably be a publicly writable sheet. You can also post your stuff here, of course. I originally asked for everything to be posted here because I wanted to have a backup of the data in case anything happened, but the list has grown so large now that recreating it from the forum posts would be something of a nightmare. So I just do backups elsewhere.

@ osser: Well, you've seen several examples above on how to put them into a spreadsheet form, but if you make your own spreadsheet file, that's perfectly fine for me. You can also post the relevant info in whatever format you wish too, but depending on it, it might take considerably longer for me to add them to the list. Like I mentioned above, I plan on making a publicly writable list too, so that might be an option in the future: if you plan on getting back in six months, it'll probably be best to wait till then though. In the meantime, just note down the distances to Sol and the exact star types in the system.

@ SpocksOddSocks: yep, that's an excellent example of the power of greenhouse gases. Water vapour is interesting because it's not only a greenhouse gas, but it also amplifies the effects of carbon dioxide too. I wonder whether FD model this, and whether the planet also has CO[SUB]2[/SUB] in its atmosphere. (I'm fairly certain that the game generates more than three atmospheric components, and just lists the three highest percentages. However, the journal files shed no light on this, as they don't store atmospheric composition - yet?)

Also, shouldn't the name of the place also be Hawking's Gap? But yeah, that search area wasn't really in it. I suppose FD just wanted to go with a name from the GMP, and that was the closest.

Big batch this time! These are from a journey round the outer edge of the Perseus Arm and then part way up the Sagittarius Carina Arm before heading to Jaques. I wasn't specifically looking for ELWs, but with most of the systems near the edges being d-mass ones, there were a good number of ELWs. In total I found 120 on this trip.

Nueloo BN-Q d6-0 - the ELW has a rocky moon that is a terraform candidate so if someone really wanted to they could make it into a ELW too ;)

Systiquae NH-U c16-0 - has 6 main stars and the ELW orbits the 5th & 6th. Not sure if there have been any other ELWs which orbit a 6th star?

@ Allitnil: Thanks a bunch! Say, any idea roughly how long in distance this trip was? Since you found 120 ELW-s on it.
Also, as far as I know, there are no other ELW-s on the list which orbit a sixth star, I just checked. However, the list's update progress is around two-thirds, with a bit over two thousand ELW-s left to check, so there's a small chance that some other one might be "hiding" in there. But even such a one does, that find will still be very rare.

It was about 530k LY in terms of distance jumped but as I was trying to stay as close to the edge as possible it involved a huge amount of zig-zagging and backtracking. Probably more like 150k in actual distance covered. According to the ED stats, it was 12,651 jumps and 12,364 systems but the latter figure is somewhat exaggerated due to the backtracking and the associated system count bug. I would guestimate that 10-11,000 distinct systems would be a better measure.

Marx I get what you are wanting. I'm updating all of my finds on my spreadsheet. (with all the star info.) All the other info you want I have.
Interesting to note I also have plane + or - values and when able LS distance from the star being orbited. (I understand this can vary) but I like data.

The thing I would love to know is how to do a table like Allitnil did.

That would be what I'd want to do with the amount of systems I have to submit.

Last I tried, pasting from Excel worked OK - I went to the advanced editor (rather than quick reply), pasted it there and previewed it, and it worked fine. It doesn't add the border lines but that doesn't matter.
For screenshots, you'll need to use something like http://imgur.com to upload them, and once uploaded copy and paste the URL in the spreadsheet (do this in Excel before you paste the table into the forum).

Pasting directly from a spreadsheet is how I used to do it too, but that stopped working about a month ago when the WYSIWYG editor option on the forum was disabled. WYSIWYG is back in the options, but still doesn't seem to function (for pasting tables at least).

Since then, I've been using a WYSIWYG to BB code converter online. Though, in future, I'll probably just add directly to the sheet as Marx suggested, and post some highlights here.

WYSIWYG still works, but I need to press the button at the very top left of the toolbar (if you hover over it, it says "Switch Editor to WYSIWYG Mode"). You should then be able to paste in from Excel. If you then want to add the grid lines, click the button again to switch back to source mode and change the
line to

Just uploading the Excel file somewhere and posting a link to it here also works. Although I prefer OpenDocument Format, but I can work with MS Excel too. I think you might be able to post it directly on the forums as an attachment, but I'm not sure if they've disabled that along with the images or not.
