List of Earth-like worlds, v3

The moon orbited by Colonia Dream does not orbit an Earth-like World. It is much too close to the host star (I think both planet and moon are landable) but it struck me that it had volcanism as I was thinking about potential sites for fumaroles etc. and the close orbit is evident on making the approach to the station in supercruise. If you still want a screenshot of that moon I can get one next time I'm logged on.

Haha, I'm drawing my list of DWE ELWs for you, and I just noticed I have an ELW orbiting an HMC orbiting a Neutron Star :D So I have BOTH the Neutron *and* Herbig ELW, woo!

OMG!

I have a Herbig ELW and a few Neutron ELW but not both in the same system, that is awesome!

Welcome back, Commander! That's quite the haul you have there. An ELW co-orbiting three stars is very rare on its own, but one orbiting a Herbig Ae/Be is one of the rarest kinds. Yours is the second one confirmed so far. Me, I've been to around five hundred such systems, but no luck so far. It's quite interesting to see that your planet's characteristics would be rather close to Earth's, if not for the whole "tidally locked to the star and a year lasts 5.5 days" thing. Oh, and the atmospheric pressure. Anyway, this one's definitely going on the "Earth-likes to visit" list for when we'll finally be able to land on them. Congrats!

Ok I got my gems:
An ELW orbiting 3 stars {class M & 2 T (not T-tauri stars}
But the real shinny is:
An ELW orbiting a Herbig Star (it was a E mass and 0 heat scale.) that would be #3 right Marx?
guess I should add I have a ELW orbiting a T-Tauri (c-mass 6 heat)

I'm loving this

I formatted my sheet like yours, so I can send it to you and you can just copypaste it.

I have a very minor error to report.

I can't recall why I originally bookmarked the BLO AESCS KN-S E4-173 system a couple of months ago to include as a waypoint in my route; it may have been on an old list of systems we needed verification or more info on, or something. Anyhow, after arriving and scanning the Earth-like, I note that the entry for this planet in the current file lists the first discoverer of this planet as Cmdr Bigg Kepler, when it is actually Cmdr Clubfoot. In this system, Clubfoot tagged the neutron star, the third star and the ELW, Bigg Kepler tagged everything else. The picture Chiggy has given in that entry is correct in showing this.

I know it's only a minor detail but if you could correct this entry, then at least I wouldn't have taken a 1500 LY detour to visit this system for no reason.

@ osser: Now I'm jealous. Looks like it's Herbig season these days. I've looked at around 600 of them so far, not a single ELW - although there was one water world that came very close to being Earth-like. Then the alien encounters happened, so now I'll give those Ae/Be-s a rest. Looking forward to getting the data from yours when you have it tagged!

@ Qohen Leth: Thanks! I'll look up the distances later, might take some time. I did add your double Herbig system before though, so that's already in.

@ Sapyx: Thanks for the heads-up! That's fixed now. Good luck on your way back!

Hey been away from the game for a while, but came back to search for Thargoid encounters. Had my first one on Saturday, but whilst I was looking I found this:

I would have added it directly to the sheet, but wasn't sure which tab you'd like them added to.

Also, thanks to Allitnil for this:

WYSIWYG still works, but I need to press the button at the very top left of the toolbar (if you hover over it, it says "Switch Editor to WYSIWYG Mode"). You should then be able to paste in from Excel. If you then want to add the grid lines, click the button again to switch back to source mode and change the
line to

Prior to the changes, I hadn't needed to switch to Wysiwig in the post itself, now seems that you do.

First off, something that everyone might find interesting: I played around with CMDR EfilOne's updated proc. gen. system sector map, which is based on Jackie Silver's work, and had some maps drawn up based on the ELW list, which you can check here. I won't be including these on the main sheet, because it involves far too many counts for that (and I originally did it with queries, which were even more taxing), but it's curious to see how the ELW-s are distributed. MattG's map was more precise, of course, this just updates automatically - when I paste in new data. I'll probably do so once in a month.
It also includes mass code counts, for those who are interested. The CDE (Chiggy Distortion Effect) is quite visible here, as code D systems are somewhat over-represented. For example, before he and Col. Frost went to survey the Zunou sector, ELW-s orbiting class G stars were evenly distributed between code C and code D.

On to individual replies:

@ Maleks: please do make a note that you gave approximate distances the next time! It's fine, but it's good for me to know right away that the distance is not precise, and I'll need to look it up later.

@ Col Frost: yep, those are very rare, only nine found so far.

To PaleGringo and SpocksOddSocks: thanks for the close ELW-s! Always good to see those. To Spocks, welcome back, and hope the encounter was good for you! Of course, the Thargoids don't ask. Feel free to add them to the "Data - To verify" tab the next time.

Arriving at my next waypoint, and it's another system I'd bookmarked long ago as having an already-discovered ELW with incomplete information. This time, it doesn't seem to be in the updated database.

This planet is a pretty good Earth-analogue; temperature's just a shave too warm, air slightly thin, gravity a bit too high and really rather humid. The real kicker is that 136-day-long local day, caused by a tidal-locking to a large, fairly remote terraformable HMC companion which it orbits surprisingly eccentrically around. It's also quite high above the galactic plane, giving the asymmetric sky typical of such worlds. Elsewhere in the system, there's another terraformable the next planet sunwards (planet A 3, which Cmdr Crighton chose not to tag) and a waterworld around the fairly remote (90,000 Ls) secondary star; the waterworld looks a but too far from a K-class star to be terraformable, though the next planet in over there (planet B 1) might be.

That's not really a kicker, because as you've said it, the planet is tidally locked to its binary partner and not to the star itself. (After all, the orbital period here is different from the rotational period.) As such, there would still be a day-night cycle on the ELW, so it's all good.
