Live stream format change - Ed

This game is being promotted as an open world MULTIPLAYER game. Only OPEN mode answers this description.

Nope, open world multiplayer game doesn't mean open mode.

Solo is multiplayer because everyone affects and is affected by the same BGS. Solo is open world because there are no invisible walls and level restrictions. Open World Multiplayer Game is not related to the modes at all.

Yes, any mode is valid, but the game asvertised as "cut throat galaxy, hunt other cmdrs".

I Wonder why FD even bothered puting factions, security levels and the such. After all, even Sol and Achenar are anarchies all but in words.
If the game had any internal coherence, the bubble should colapse within a week since there is no rule of law anywhere.

IMO ED would be much better off as a post-apo societal collapse style game, since its mechanics already support such gameworld perfectly.
I mean, if there are vandals in rome, you'd know that the empire has collapsed.
This is exactly what we would have if a CG was to be hosted in Achenar...

Where is Immershun when you need it :)

Yes, it's that question that this thread is about; "Is stream sniping harassment?" I'm glad you are willing to openly state you don't think stream sniping is harassment though - that speaks volumes! :)

Now, let's see if Frontier will give us an answer about their thoughts on harassment...

Again... you are not a streamer so I guess you will not understand, We streamers are consistently targeted me especially because of my actions in game and the people I have killed etc but I have no issue with stream snipers, sure its annoying but thats it. If someone attacks and kills me over and over, that is NOT harassment... to use that word devalues it seriousness given the context you use it too!

It is literally the definition of harassment, mate. Its cool you and your buddies have your own fantasy language, but most of us just use English.

I dont get why even simple honesty is too much to ask from SDC some people. Just say:"Yes, I like to spend my free time annoying random strangers in computer games. That is enjoyable to me. I harass people, and I will continue to do so as long as it is allowed."

You are not much of a faux-villain if you deny the obvious.

They want to promote a multiplayer game, not honk scoop game. Besides, open is the official mode of the game.

He should git gud at the game he is promoting, maybe grind a bit and engineer his ship.

Its a cut throat galaxy after all.

Since for you mulitplayer is = PvP
No, they don't want to promote that. In fact they said the game isn't about PvP at all.

Every player/streamer we lose to private/mobius makes Open a shadow of what it could be and what it was when the game was released.

We had 4-5 months of a golden period in Open play from the game launch. Pirates actually pirated. PvPers.... well killed each other rather than ganking. And Ed did some of his best streams in Open.

I have dream where the majority of players including streamers can enjoy Open and dont feel the need to go to private to enjoy this wonderful game.

That was the time when we didn't have all the asymmetrical PvP nonsense and the best advice you could give someone was "next time fit some shields" rather than "fit shields, SCBs, HRPs, SBs, MRPs, Engineer your ship, sell everything and get a FDL instead"...

Did you just apply the IRL version of harassment to a video game that allows you to shoot who you like?! oh lord...

Well obviously you don't care about getting attacked constantly because your videos are all about getting attacked / attacking others constantly. Since PvP is basically the only thing that interests you in the game...

PS
And I'd like to see you getting killed over and over, could you provide a link? :D

The issue is that normally Ed's streams are used for a bit of a laugh and to impart info. It's funny occasionally but it's getting to the point where its getting boring. Oh here comes the sdc to spoil the stream again, thus reinforcing that open is a gankers paradise and moving more players away from open.

I would actually prefer they stop playing and just talk about the game instead.

Here's the thing, this isn't about you and it isn't about me. But it's great you are expressing how you feel this affects you personally, and also what you personally feel is and is not considered harassment. This clarification on your position, is exactly what people are asking to see.

As for the usage of the word "harassment", that is the exact context Frontier have used the word in. But we can play word-games all day. My definition and your definition of the word is completely irrelevant...the only definition that matters in this case is Frontier's.

It's up to Fdev to define what is acceptable and what isn't.

They did so back in 2016 with this https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...update-Reiteration-of-player-harassment-rules.

In this case this paragraph
In addition taking action such as seeking out and targeting specific players purely for the purpose of being disruptive, to cause offence, or to upset players within the community can also be considered harassment. A perfect example of this is deliberately attempting to disrupt public livestreams such as the charity ones mentioned before. This includes, but is not limited to, the capturing of footage and releasing it publically in an attempt to create upset or gain notoriety through the actions listed above.

The question is not about open vs Pg or crime and punishment, that's for another thread.

The real question is,

Is the above policy still valid, if No. Then a new one, with clarification should be issued.

If Yes, then further questions apply like. "Is our understanding of the example different to Fdev's if so. Why?" or "How will this affect streamers going forwards" or "Does this break Twitch guidelines? and probably most pertinent "Why hasn't it been enforced?"

In either case (correct or not) enforcement is key, with no enforcement going forwards it just becomes woolly and meaningless words that damages every player regardless of the mode they play in.

How can anyone ever be harassed when there are in game tools to block whomever you wish?
At the end of the day, this is his job, he has to promote the game the company he works for has developed.
Maybe it's not great for marketing, but it shows the state of the game.

Take a group of 'players' each with the same goal... to disrupt a live stream...

That's harassment, plus just going to the trouble of blocking each member would be tedious.. also what if you decided you wanted to get revenge.... search unblock.. yada yada.... Play in private group then seek them in open. Much easier ..
