Live stream format change - Ed

Scaring potentialy new casual customer = less income = less dev time for the game
Casual customer is much better informed by Youtubers who post gameplay videos, how to videos, and reviews and usually seek those out as a source of info on whether to buy or not. When's the last time you bought a game because the developer made a livestream within their own game?

Ah ha, my point exactly (tears lost in a rain of comments) - (jump, scoop) x 50 - how does this make for an engaging livestream?

And 'easy kill, rebuy screen, back to square one', 'easy kill, rebuy screen, back to square one', 'easy kill, rebuy screen, back to square one' makes for an engaging stream does it?

Devs should add PvE mode to the game. There would be no need for groups like Mobius.
99% of players would be happy, 99% of players would play there ;) I have no idea why the devs even continue this PvP comedy. It doesn't work.

While that loop itself does not and we are not disputing something needs to be done, the point being made is that the current format is boring and not just for us PVP folk, what IS cool to see though is Ed is clearly improving since being attacked.

I think it really does. Shows the game awesome potential in term of "emergent" gameplay.

Both examples are fair examples of ED gameplay. Unlike some trailers;)

I thought FDEV policy is "in open mode, anything goes"? ;)

If Ed wants to demonstrate some game mechanics in a tin can with minimal defenses and weapons in open, then that is probably not the best idea.

That's why I play in solo or PG when I do video recording for my youtube channel. Because I don't want to be interrupted and edit tons of stuff afterwards.

Just so I understand the thought process.. Anyone you(or others) kill while they are streaming is for their own good and you're doing it to them as a favour?

I don't think folks have clocked on to what I was actually doing, so I'll spell it out ;)

I totally agree with the responses I've been getting.

What I'm actually saying, is that Frontier have designed a game for which there are zero consequences for attacking other players. Yet, they market the game, and have been trying to promote the Open mode for years, now, and even have the phrase "Or just hunt other commanders" in said marketing, without having done much if anything to bring consequences into the game for aberrant/criminal behaviour.

Therefore, in my opinion, if Frontier want to market the game, and stream in Open, and all they get in return is a paddlin' , this should really encourage them to hurry up and start getting some semblance of consequences into the game. :)
It was pretty obvious to me.

Do I get a cookie?

I never said we where doing them a favor, nor did I say I did it to benefit them. its also worth pointing out the guy that keeps killing Ed is not SDC. why others kill people is their business.

I still do not understand why guys you keep replying to people who amongst themselves refer to us all as "autistic forumdads". They are trolls using risible "arugments" trying to defend what they do, doubtlessly while snickering in some private chat about how they are "dunking" on us. I wouldn't bother engaging with these kids, it's a huge waste of time.

There is nothing 'emergent' about it and I find it astounding that you consider one form of dull repetition boring but the loop I pointed out somehow engaging, strange.

As I said earlier, Frontier surely want to show off more aspects of the bloody game than just stream sniping and the rebuy screen, as for the trailers, see every game advertised for the last 15-20 years.

On the flip side, I've never bought a game because of a Youtube video either.

I can only assume you ran out of logical points to put across and turned to the tried and tested "call em kids" method. that will show em! ;)

But it's fun :) The more you push, the bigger the reality distortion field generators that are needed to maintain their arguments. If it keeps going I suspect power cuts in the East Midlands just to keep the generators going. Not to mention many thousands of glitched rolls to engineer them :)

In all seriousness, this entire thread is about Fdev's policy, and how they choose to enforce it(or if not) . Anything else is just passing the time.

Haha and another one! looks like us youngsters won this one!

Pretty much this, the state can only be set at the start of a session, any ships flagged PvE cannot be fired on by other players nor can PvE fire on other players.

I would have nothing against introducing a stealth ship with insane jump range for the devs to fly around and showcase whatever they will in whichever mode is cool for them.

I really don't want them showing a 20+ jump journey with an under-fitted ship to get some explosives. And it's evel less interesting for non-players that would like to learn about the game.

Also, watching Ed fighting for his life was actually pretty entertaining. But not if it happens every stream. So yeah, stealth ship.

^ this, I agree. if Ed doesn't want to get better or feels he will never be competent enough to compete with the few that attack him then use a "Dev Ship" insta kill anyone who attacks you, teleport to the location you want to show, if the game is so slow or boring then its an issue for the developers.
