Live stream format change - Ed

^ this, I agree. if Ed doesn't want to get better or feels he will never be competent enough to compete with the few that attack him then use a "Dev Ship" insta kill anyone who attacks you, teleport to the location you want to show, if the game is so slow or boring then its an issue for the developers.

But just because you don't enjoy those streams doesn't mean you should encourage that they be disrupted. Again all it does is reinforce the perception that players shouldn't play in open unless you like to be ganked and thus less players in open, except newbies and seal clubbers.

I would have nothing against introducing a stealth ship with insane jump range for the devs to fly around and showcase whatever they will in whichever mode is cool for them.

I really don't want them showing a 20+ jump journey with an under-fitted ship to get some explosives. And it's evel less interesting for non-players that would like to learn about the game.

Also, watching Ed fighting for his life was actually pretty entertaining. But not if it happens every stream. So yeah, stealth ship.

They have admin commands available to them. In previous life streams, when he had to travel far distances, Ed usually just blackens the screen and types something to teleport to a different location.

I assume they don't want to use admin commands or "god-mode" for combat though, because of possible backlash.

Although, it would be funny if he would spawn in 10 Thargoid interceptors as guardians. :)

Also, I suspect that's not an option when streaming on consoles.

Right but you apply the classification to an event that as described in the statement put out by Frontier itself its completely fine, the entire statement boils down to this:

IF player is in Private group or Private group charity stream THEN apply punishment to offending player

The even we are all talking about does not follow the above logic, this is what was meant when Zac put that statement out, now if Frontier should amend their stance on stream sniping is another question worth asking instead of attempting to warp the current statement to the current context that following said statement proves there is nothing wrong here.

We are reading that statement in different ways then. I'm not saying your interpretation is wrong either, but it's not how I read it.

Is there really anything wrong with asking Frontier for official clarification here on the forum? If they say you have the right of it - then all is well and good. :)

IMHO any magical dev stuff would completely negate the purpose of the live stream of the game we're playing.
May as well go watch the marketing CGI commercials.

I still do not understand why guys you keep replying to people who amongst themselves refer to us all as "autistic forumdads". They are trolls using risible "arugments" trying to defend what they do, doubtlessly while snickering in some private chat about how they are "dunking" on us. I wouldn't bother engaging with these kids, it's a huge waste of time.

Some of us, unfortunately, spend large amount of time every day locked behind a computer waiting for stuff to finish. There is only so many times you can read the usual news sites and watch cute kitten vids on youtube. :p

Doesn't really matter about the rights/wrongs of PvP in open....but Ed's reaction at the end of the vid just isn't a good advert for the game.

Especially when he's the community manager.

This game is boring to watch. Especially for someone that isn't an Elite player.

I've watched ObsidianAnt before I started playing and always loved his videos, because he showcased only interesting stuff. But he also did a let's play series, I couldn't even w watch 3 minutes of it. It's just boring when it's not your ship.

The only thing, which might be cool for people that aren't players might be the graphics, and they look much worse on stream than in-game.

So if he can't show the more interesting stuff, he shouldn't stream the gameplay at all. I've preferred the story-stream they just did in the virtual cockpit without the game playing.

Gotta be tired of kids crap

Quite. Also look for the stream when Bo's ship was blown up (a weaponless Hauler she was using to learn the basics). At her first encounter with griefers she was, justifiably, pretty puzzled about why anyone would actively seek her out just to blow her up during her "tutorial livestream". Yeah "it's called Dangerous" yadda yadda. Whatever kids, that's a ridiculous response. Her spontaneous reaction to the gank is worth a thousand words TBH.

This is just to highlight that it's not just Ed's "boring" streams that get sniped. It's pretty much anything/anyone that can be sniped that gets sniped. Because "harvesting salt" is apparently fun.

Going back to the main topic then, I would not shed a tear if from now on the livestreams were to be simply Ed and a Dev sitting down, doing nothing but talking about how the game development is going (something that, in fact, has been promised before and that would be greatly appreciated) and answering questions from the audience. Then, when there's something major to show (like the one with the T.H.A.R.G.O.I.D.S. signal), you can show actual gameplay.

"Gotta be tired of mostly middle aged men acting like jackasses."

I fixed that for you :)

Jackassery is an affliction that seems present in all demographics ^^

Stream : easy prey + salt + visibilty. ganker agar substrate loaded with sugar IMO.

It's like putting bacteria in a petri dish and hoping they'll be nice enough to not multiply and kill themselves in their waste lol.

Yes you are right, harvesting salt is fun, maybe, just maybe, stop donating it by the masses and the harvest will instantly stop.
As long as there are donations, there will be a harvest.

"Stop being upset by the upsetting things I am doing to you, and I will stop doing them". Again, I have to state that PvP'ers like ALGOMATIC, and PvE'ers that prefer combat to have at least some form of in game context other than "harvesting salt", will simply never get along. Not saying either side is right or wrong, but just create Open PvE and be done with it :)

I also want for PVP combat to have at least some form of in game context as you said, but we dont have it right now, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Take it up with Frontier, it's their wording.

Fortunately for some commanders Frontier don't seem to enforce their rules in these cases as with many other things.

In this particular case, Frontier does not run YouTube, so you're free to take and post all the video there you like, even name-and-shame and commit blasphemy and heresy at the same time, and there's nothing Frontier can do about that. But they can and will stop you from posting or linking it here.

I think a format change along the lines mentioned by previous posters would be a great idea.

I like Ed & his presenting style and enjoy hearing from dev's talking about the specifics of the content that they're responsible for (e.g. a bit of depth on missions). It's also enjoyable to hear from player groups and how they play the game.

All of these would be well served in a mix of the modes - for example teleporting about in a god mode version of solo to see planet textures, a bit of pg with some player groups and a spot of open for PVP combat episodes.

This would also highlight the unique mode utilisation that this game has to new people which, like it or not, keeps the game enjoyable to multiple player types.
