Horizons Loading times with stations, and planet surface approach...

I'm not sure why, or if anyone else is seeing an increase in load times for both station and planetary approach, but I'm seeing at least a 5 second delay (sometimes longer) when approaching a station from supercruise or the final load going to a planet surface. I recently switch to windows 10. I'm also running off a SSD and 32 gigs of ram. Was kinda expecting to see an improvement in load times in these situations. I mean, I had faster load times when I had windows 7 installed, running off a regular harddrive. Going INTO supercruise is instantaneous. The delay seems to be coming out of it..

check to see if it happens when in Solo mode.. I noticed that it happens more when there are other CMDRs in the system.

Yep, probably connection issues. If you have more than 50ms latency and less than 2MB/s upload and there is more commanders in the area, it'll at least double your loading times. Solo is the only solution. (Other than getting better provider, which in some places is impossible)

Isn't there a way to see my latency to their server ingame? My connection elsewhere seems fine. 68 MB/s down and 12 MB/s up.

Also, tested it in Solo, and saw the same hangup during the transitions (5 seconds or so). Could it be an issue with Windows 10?

Not directly. But if you press Ctrl+B you will see the incoming and outgoing bandwidth - If the numbers in Open fall to zero for longer period of time, especially when other commanders are around or the instance is loading (dropping to the station etc.) it might mean the lag is there.

Me? Solo only, and noticed on some occasions that the computer seems to hang (which it doesn't) when dropping out of cruise.
The longest I remember was about 30 to 40 seconds. Ridiculous!
I pressed Win key and computer was fine. Game continued as normal. Task manager said everything fine!
Another time thing is opening the Mission tab while in station. Sometimes it has the same problem. It says unable to connect to server (again, ridiculous) as the rest of the game continues normally. Such as interactions with the rest of the station. I think it is a bug.

Yes, typical example of failing connection. The trouble is that it's really hard to tell whether it is on your end of server's. :/
The good news is that since launch, these transitions get better with every update, be maybe one day it'll really feel seemless.

As stated, it hard to tell which end is causing the issue, BUT with this said, there are several threads / tickets open for the same issue and in most cases the issue is on the server side as they are overloaded / not scaling up fast enough
if you set up wire shark and monitor the connection 9 out of 10 times, you will see that you are waiting on the server to respond.
one thing to keep in mind, as FD uses a P2P type of set up...
A clients internet connection can influence the game for others too.
So if anyone that is in the same instance that you are, and has a crap connection it will affect everyone in the instance!

That is probably right. With P2P connection, I'd expect the first person in the instance to kind of "host" it for others.
It's not going to influence the transaction server connection in the market and mission board, though.

Yes, I raised a ticket for it, I also have 32GB RAM and a SSD drive. I also get the space break when I transit from SC to normal flight or visa versa.
