Lonely Explorers friends list

Yeah I get that occasionally. I also don't feel like I can trust the ADS anymore when the detailed scanner is on the fritz. It will honk, nothing pops up. Only at the second honk suddenly a bunch of stuff appears when I'm already about to leave.
It's either the server or your connection. I get it more often during prime time, and when my wifi decides to take micro naps.

I get those to, and the finished scanning....just kidding... scan it again.

Say, which do you think is a better place to get to the roof: the galactic core, or more towards the edge, closer to home? Besides the distances involved in getting there, that is. Does the galaxy look better from above (or below) if you're at the center?
It looks best 42k ly from the core! A bright line, whole galaxy in view.
I like the bottom too, got 2800 ly under Sagittarius A. But I imagine that's the same view as from above.

Oh it paid off then? You were telling me about a long SC to get to a possible.

Yup - it paid off! There was a third one, too, but it turned turned out to be a water world - terra-formable, though, so still pays the big bikkies, but always nice to see "earth-like" appear on the hud.

Wouldn't it be nice if...

...we got to name the systems that we discover? I mean, some of these names are just downright boring. :)

The systems - whilst it would be cool, probably best not to, as it makes it possible to find stars via Google/science journals/Science class in high school etc. Would be cool if we could name planets, though...

I just think there would be too much effort needed to ensure no one names anything too stupidly...

I get what you say about using standard names to aid location but I reckon the devs could have allowed for a standard designation plus discoverers chosen name model. After all, I can't see too many folks looking up SYNUEFE AQ-N C23-37 just for a laugh :)

You KNOW I will have to look that up now, don't you?

Actually, I did see an article the other day, about a carbon star with steam around it, I noted that down to go check it out once I get to the core.

The image is linked here

Though, if it was just a standardised name based on the explorer - EG all systems I discover are named Bare-xxxxx (where the X represents the sequential number of the discovery), that would be cool - and only a single approval for all names given to my discoveries. The only issue is, we end up with a similar naming system, where it's just username-number, so we still wouldn't get truly interesting and unique names.

Oh, and I'm not personally concerned about "immersion breakers" for names. Truly creative and funny names would be cool, but I fear it woul dbe too much work for the devs to check each and every one...

Also, double-ups may be an issue. I'm sure there would be a few Earth-likes named "Caprica", for example...

CMDR Gelbrock.... enjoying exploring right now. Heading out once TSU event has finished.

I used to be able to dock flying at half speed, with one hand, whilst changing a nappy, talking on the phone and drinking a beer.... after I come back from exploring its a very different story.... :)

commander big_bad_lynx - currently coming back from second trip to Sagittarius a*. Later I'm going to make a post how to make long travels without getting slightly mad

Is that really possible. No madness....

I don't know. Is it safe?

You know that sanity stuff...

Hehehe :D

Is anyone likely to make Sagittarius A in the next hour or two? Would be cool to have another CMDR in the photo.

Oh, and if someone would be kind enough to tell me how to turn on the "spine" lights on an Asp, I'd be very grateful

This list is a great idea, and I have added quite a few people, though I'm sure I have missed some. Anyone who is just joining the game, or just spotted this thread, is welcome to go through and add people. It's easy to do from the Main Menu.

CMDR Freddie MC has helpfully added a list in the first post of this thread that covers the first half. For the rest, just skim through and start adding.

If you are an explorer, whether in the far reaches of the galaxy or just starting out with small trips outside the bubble, by all means add people. It is very cool to see where other explorers are on the galaxy map, and they are an excellent source of info if you run into something odd.

Thats another thing i am getting with my ADS.. it sometimes seems a bit slow to react

I was wondering if the DSS glitch might be due to module damage ... but my DSS was at 100%, though the ADS was down to 69%. I've just done some AFMU repairs (ADS and standard sensors) and will see if that makes any difference.
