Lore Question

I refer: https://community.elitedangerous.com/en/galnet/uid/587ce4869657ba2a4971527c

"And I believe we can draw only one conclusion: we are sharing the galaxy with an intelligent non-human species."
- Professor Ishmael Palin

This line confuses me. It implies that the question of whether or not we're alone in the universe hasn't already been answered.

My confusion is further compounded by the following article: https://community.elitedangerous.com/en/galnet/uid/5878a8919657ba11170de181

Is Elite: Dangerous running in an alternate reality where Thargoids haven't previously done a number on us?
Are the Superpower leaders delusional?
Or am I interpreting it incorrectly?

Certain lore aspects were revised I think. For instance, the original bit of lore (The Dark Wheel novella), there were aliens all over the place, friendly or otherwise.

The current lore seems to have the Thargoid "war" as more of skirmish that was covered up and not widely known to the public, a bit of a myth shared amongst weary spacefarers in dimly lit bars around the galaxy.

I do always chuckle when in a livestream somebody from Frontier says there's "no such thing as Thargoids".. come on guys, there's a damn tourist beacon in Lave called first Thargoid contact!

I read several times there's a lot of ET-skepticism in 33xx.
Makes sense, humans deny what they are scared of.

Next time it happens, somebody should bring up Commander Jameson. ;)

*Shrugs* Peter Jameson lived in AD 3125:

Lave Revolution said:
‘One hundred and forty years ago today, a man bought a Cobra Mark III from a retiring pilot somewhere in the station dock,’ Walden said. ‘Afterwards, he had one hundred credits in his pocket. He purchased a small cargo and flew out into space to make his fortune. He brought his son up the same and seventy-five years later, his grandson and so on for five generations. All the while, they made money and lost everything. Now, there are Jamesons spread across the star systems, some related, some just chancers who want the reputation. These are wasteful people, capable of much, but ultimately forgotten by the galaxy. Hundreds of others copied them, but not me. Back then, Doctor Hans Walden was a scientist, working in one of the laboratories. There was a Galactic Co-operative and we were the centre of humanity’s adventure in space...’
Walden’s voice trailed off. He moved away, towards the vista.

You can find out more about him here as well - https://www.edrpg.co.uk/single-post/2016/12/13/The-Unexpected-Guest---Part-1

Regarding the Thargoids. Yes, there's been contact before, but people are perfectly entitled to believe it never happened. :D

The story contained in the previous games has been revised, but don't believe everything you read in GalNet either. ;)

Cheers,

Drew.

Maybe there are aliens behind the scene since a long time. Is it a fact ? We don't know. If it is a fact, there is a chance that this is keeping secret to the public by the superpowers for some reasons we don't know yet.
