Loving the game!

In 2014 I backed Elite Dangerous and got the lifetime pass on Kickstarter. It has proved to be fantastic value. Yes, EDO implementation in VR is limited but overall this game is still the best VR experience I have had. The progress the game has made has been phenomenal when one reflects back on the comparatively limited nature of the game at launch. The work on Odyssey has turned it into a brilliant update that you can take or leave as you please. I just hope that the game can follow the example of others and evolve beyond any teething problems to enjoy another 7 years of similar development. There's a lot to enjoy and be positive about. Loving the game and hoping for a positive future for it. A little more love and a little less negativity might help that happen.

Yep agreed. Also a KS backer, and ED is still my most played game. The in-flight VR remains my best immersive experience and although on-foot is disappointing, the camera hack at least gives the right sense of 3D but I would buy another LEP just for VR head look to work in Odyssey.

Although the exobiology game play was derided at launch, I am enjoying it. Just yesterday, I was on a planet with an ammonia atmosphere with 7 different types to discover. Sadly (or maybe not as I was not well armed) I didn't run into any Thargoids on foot ;)

I agree , just tested this on nvidia geforce now and it looks amazing , been playing it on my potato pc but with the graphics turned up its pretty good performance is lousy still random stutters and hitches all over but all and looks good , actually went and did some exobiology was fun . but still they need to figure out the issue with performance those stutters and freezes really are not good for the immersion

I mean, while they're talking, we are playing :p

Someone's happy with Odyssey - and they've been playing since the beginning play in VR - wow.

I've been playing since first release too and I bought a VR headset for Elite.
Odyssey has made uninstall Elite for the first time since ED released.

I wish there was a way to see real player numbers, but all we have is steam, which is only a subset of PC players and actually only counts people running the launcher, not the game and no break down of Horizons vs Odyssey but any way, it's all we have:
Average Player count:
2020 Nov: 8,646.8 - 6 months before the biggest update the game has every had )
2021 Nov: 4,089.4 - 6 months after the biggest update the game has every had and before the announcement of cancelled Consoles and admission that they are not willing/able to fix the Odyssey broken planet tech.

This low player count is probably why Elite doesn't have enough resources working on it to actually fix it anymore.

Just imagine, there are people who are happy playing the half billion dollar sci-fi dollhouse scamware, what's wrong with being happy with EDO?

Nothing wrong with enjoying playing EDO - it sends a nice warm message to FDev that their product is okay - maybe they don't need to bother fixing <insert any of the outstanding support tickets here - there are 29,069 issues for Odyssey on PC at the time I'm writing this >

More bugs = less players.
Continuing performance issues = less players.
More silence on the future of the game = less players motivated to play.
New features that affect only a fraction of the player base = more players lose interest.

Less players = less resources will be allocated to Elite, less resources working on the game = less chance of any of the issues getting fixed and less meaningful ( and bug free ) new content.

So far the only thing we know about the future of EDO is Consoles are not happening, Planet Tech won't be fixed and some 'story' elements will be continuing ( what ever that might mean ).

Those that can enjoy EDO should make the most of it - the future is not looking good.
