Anyone see that Disney are closing down Lucasarts?

After evaluating our position in the games market, we've decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimising the company's risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games.
Not dead, just licensed. Disney will release the games under its own banner, presumably.

Sad to see the end of the name, but to be honest they have been running out of steam for a while now anyway - Star Wars 1313 is an awful concept!

I'm actually more concerned and rattled by the decision to cancel Clone Wars. That series brought some real storytelling and characterisation back to the SW universe, and killing it off is just daft.

The irony is that Pirates of the Caribbean made by Disney, completely ripped off Monkey Island in every way. I got the Monkey Island Special Edition (Monkey island 1 and 2 remade with HD textures and voice cast) And it had a short making of video clip in the game menu. The producers explain how Disney ripped off all elements of monkey island while laughing... (Anger boiling up inside them, knowing they really should sue, but laugh it off because its pointless standing up against the corporate giant known as Disney.)

Haven't played a decent Lucasarts game probably for almost ten years. There's only been Lego Star Wars that was pretty decent in recent years, but that was only published by Lucasarts, not developed. Such a shame as they made some of the greatest games during the 90's/early noughties. What happened? :S

Now they're in a peculiar situation where they could sue themselves for plagarism.

Though in reality it would be Disney suing Lucasarts, because The Secret of Monkey Island was inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean ride which predates it by some decades!
