Lugh Event a failure - Taking over systems doesnt work

Can someone please explain this area of gameplay in really simple terms as I don't understand the mechanics of how you can throw a system into Anarchy.
How are you turning a system into Anarchy and by what in game methods are you using?

I may even join in then...or at least not scupper your actions!

Sorry for the noob question (currently just floating around, trading here and there and picking off the occasional bounty)

Big props to Flin and orfeboy for rallying the masses - it really was great fun.

Also, I'd still be up for giving it a second try to see if we could push it over the edge this time!

It's not over. Flin does not own this and should not be derailing it as if he does!

All I can say is you were doing the right things and that trading can have a big impact against your efforts.

Try to raise the influence of a single faction by doing missions for them, pushing their stations, killinv and sabotaging the other factions. Their influence rises, and maybe they take over. If it is an Anarchy faction you might end up with an anarchy faction.

Hey hold on a minute? Who said this was over?

I never made any such statement!

Flin might be throwing in the towel but I certainly am not! Did you always think this was going to be easy? Things don't go our way so we throw the toys out of the pram? Are we babies now all of a sudden? Pull yourselves together people!

What you are seeing here is a sympthom of all uprisings that fail as soon as they hit a bump in the road. The casual followers drop off.

This thing started well but as soon as the newsletter drew every tom and harry into Lugh they all came looking for 'Something' to be going on in the game. They hung around like flies and then started shooting. While they were there they started doing random missions. They could not care less about what we are doing here. They were just looking for something to do in a then empty game.

But do you know what? That stage will blow over but I am still here. I will not stop. Ask yourself what are you going to do in the game now? Are you going to wander off now and start doing missions for the Empire? for the Federation? After this?

Are we to suddenly now to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?

I think not...

I want every person on this thread who is still willing to back me on this to PM me as soon as you read this post and declare their willingness to go on. All is not lost and we are not going down without a fight I can promise you that!

I am only getting started...

Lugh Lámhfhada abú!

No :p It started well untill the mechanics didn't work and nothing happened.

Our glorious leader has spoken, I will be back in lugh tonight fighting the good fight.

I just hope that the branching bugs are fixed. I failed so many missions for Crimson due to that bug that I gave up hope.

Only read the first few pages but did see Micheal's responses, apologies for being captain obvious but shouldn't we be making a concerted effort to take Fed Lugh For Equality traders (Haulers, Lakon's etc.) out, say at the Nav Beacon and interdictions, cut the lifeblood of Fed Lugh For Equality off, it will wither and die. , just thinking out loud but worth a shot.

No clue if that even works. It has been observed that NPC ships that we "see" are only here for our benefit - to give the impression of "life".

They don't really trade, their goods don't get to the market. They don't even dock at stations (try following one and see).

So I dunno if their faction affects anything too.

Well i did not really take part in the Lugh project, except maybe some trading from there.
But as i store my ships their, i visit often, and i have noticed no difference whatsoever to the system.
Shame, you guys tried and worked hard, lets hope the fdevs fixes have worked, and better luck next time.

That maybe true and a shame, but targeting trader (style) ships flying the flag for Lugh for Equality and taking them out "could" make for an interesting dynamic, or I could be looking to deeply into this.

I just joined the fight last night.
I'd been up at Alioth but hadn't seen too many CMDR's up there lately (sounds like there are folk up there though so now I need to decide - will probably plumb for the Alliance fight). I reckon that, yes, take out the trade ships that are working for the Fed factions. If trade by NPC's has an effect then that's what needs doing. Shooting gallery. Fun. On another note making profits out of trading with rival factions is obviously a no no. I am assuming that this sort of political involvment with system factions will generally mean that one is personally out of pocket.

Let's keep at it.

I saw quite a few missions reducing Civil Unrest when completed. We want these to fail, probably even those chosen by the Crimson State. I feel kinda bad for the millions of virtual people who are about to suffer, but the independent ends may justify the grisly and painful means... I had left the system, but I shall return!

Not over. I shall be running missions for Crimson state tonight as per usual. I will cease trading in the system, didnt realise it was working against us.

Actually you triggered civil war three times, but it didn't hold. We've since fixed that. It was an excellent test and kudos for the attempt.

Michael

Michael, please - why dont you simply tell us that this is just a test BEFORE? I think nobody has a problem with it, especially not when you are asking us to do it (I think I can speak for a couple of guys here).

Well after all, this was an experiment to test the game mechanics, people have said "failure", I say nay.
The experiment was, and continues to be a success. :D
The community has obviously found some game breaking faction mechanics, dud missions, server issues etc. I'm sure Frontier are aware of most of these problems.
Kudos to everyone that has been involved, and much love for those that continue to participate.

The ball is in Frontiers court now, they have to look at the data and find and fix the problem, sharpish.
Also, it would be nice if they could maybe make a thread on System faction\Galactic faction mechanics and how they influence each other, what increases rep, what decreases rep, etc, a kind of go to guide.

Just my 2 cents

CMDR Z,....Out

You are just a bunch of subversive! How you dare?
News about your on going operations spread in the galaxy. The federation is very concerned for what is happening in Lugh.
We will soon prepare a counter expedition, in case of a civil war happening, and you will be judged responsabile for that.
I'll myself leave my home system and travel for hundreds of light years if necessary.
Federation, the only way!

(Out of Role: kudos to you guys i keep following this and hope you will succed!!)

All I can say is you were doing the right things and that trading can have a big impact against your efforts.

So trading does affect infuence?
I ask, because it used to affect reputation, but no longer seems to.
I can sell 90T of goods, at a profit, and have no reputation arrows.
Only completing missions seems to have a reputation effect.
