Make Characters Gamemode Choice Permanent!!!

Yes thats right.
Pls make the Gamemode Choice for Characters Permanent.


Working as easy as that.


When you Create an new Character he will able to Freely choose Gamemodes like now.
But only for 1 Week.

After 1 Week you will be Prompted to Choose which Gamemode you want to Play in.
That Choice will be Permanent.


(Current Players will also get this 1 week trial period to choose a Gamemode just that they get it at first login of their character after Update)



Pls note.
Choice will be to.

Play Open.
Or
Play Solo


Private Groups will be counted as Solo Play and you can switch between groups and Solo Play at your own Leisure.






Its high time something is done so Open stops being nothing but an Core World PvP meet and becomes an actual World.....

Or have two (at least?) different saves - one for open and second for solo play. This was discussed so many times in so many threads nobody can count.
 
I kind of agree. Being able to freely switch back and forth between Open Play and Solo play undermines the integrity of Open Play. It creates tactics like "building up" in Solo play and only logging in to Open play when you want to grief (or fight, whatever).

I don't mind both modes but they shouldn't be mixed together.
 
just drop it man, it's too much work for the devs to create a live infrastructure. they don't get a monthly fee, and what you want require people who WORK. this game is here to grab the cash and go to hell.
it's not like eve online where people are dedicated to their product and always keep improving it for how long ? 12 years ? what you have in star citizen now (the wait for something that will someday be released) is the equivalent of a decent open play in elite. not to mention the devs here are still working on stuff that probably have nothing to do with any solution for this problem.
something like the endless whining on the WoW pvp forum. it's not a pvp game but people there just refuse to understand.

I must agree with Sunleader. I don't understand why it would be such a big deal to have two characters as suggested. There is also no point in just telling people to drop the suggestion based on a judgement of the team developing the game. They made this forum for us to offer our suggestions and they are willing to listen to what we have to say. Now you can blindly turn down suggestions such as these as much as you want but when you don't offer any argument to defend your perspective then it doesn't really achieve anything.

I started in Open play and switched to Solo play because of this issue. In it's current state there is no point in playing in Open play until we can afford the artillery to compete with others, which sucks because it is one of the factors that really destroys the feeling of communal progression.

Again? Why do you care how anyone else plays the game? Why don't you just enjoy yourself and let others enjoy themselves in whatever mode takes their fancy? It doesn't affect you at all does it?

no need to make an argument for a poor idea... play the mode you like and let others play theirs.. it should be free option to choose which mode you wish without
locked to one mode.
 
I understand the issue and I almost agree with this solution.


A. What if solo player wants to do PvP at some point?
B. Open is atm. competitive PvP. This change would just make it possible for strong to abuse weak. I see no real skill based PvP in this idea.
C. This change will lead to mass PvP, and it sucks in every mmo.


Do not take me wrong, I am actually PvP player. But I want to see who is better not who has more members in their guild. 20 vs 10 is just boring, which ever side you are.

Why is it such a poor idea? What is the problem with having multiple characters for each game mode? If you get tired of playing solo then switch to multiplayer and vise-versa, just have some dedication! It sucks when I'm trying to do my thing in Open play and I get intercepted by some dude in a viper that's rocking 4 cannons and I'm still rolling around in my not so fully loaded viper. The whole thing has really turned me off to Open play altogether, and that was one of the things that convinced me to buy the game to begin with.
 
The Open Play/Solo modes are at the basic core of this game design. There have been hundreds of posts about it. The whole point was for the players to play however they want when they want. That is the goal since day one. Continuing with threads that force a player to play a certain way for the satisfaction of others in the game is contradictory to what FD accomplished.

If PvP is a big deal then setup shop in a few systems, invite players to join in, and play nice! Perhaps a "friendly" system where live players join together and take out NPCs as a training scenario for how PvP works including communication. Then perhaps more Solo players would take an interest in Open Play. People get more solutions with a carrot than a stick.

We don't need multiple character when we have one who we can use in which mode we prefer.
I play solo, group (2) so far and open. That means I would need at least 3 characters for each mode which is waste of game time.
Not all have the time to play mulitple characters.
 
the ''sandbox multiplayer game'' was just pure , or some way to lure fans of that genre into the game. there is no sandbox multiplayer if you do your part solo. you just don't get it do you. it's either a total fail or simple advertising of something that will never be present. you may call it deception

i would like to be able to have a commander for each mode though.
