Mandem Zoo - a work in progress

Hi, this is my first zoo, its in challenge mode. There's no real plan, I'm just making it up as I go along.

It's very much a work in progress, those buildings and paths that are just randomly placed will be reworked as I go along. I started the zoo off with just the central mountain and a pack of Arctic Wolves, which have since been joined by a flock of dall sheep. This whole area needs improving. On the left hand side is a Reindeer Enclosure with an elevated walkway, the zoo hit a major financial crisis when I was building this, so its a bit basic and I'm going to make some major changes to it all.

Next up came the pandas, which rescued the zoo from financial disaster. I'm mostly happy with this enclosure, but I plan to put in a custom shelter, expand it out the back, and merge it with the mountains on the right.

Then I put together the first section of staff buildings, mostly just experimenting with elements until I settled on a design that I was happy with. This contains two exhibits, with Boas and Poison Frogs. Drinks and Food (I'll probably swap these stores soon), and a seating area. Behind is a staff room, mechanic workshop and keeper's hut. I need to do something with the power and water here, and add more trees. This style will probably continue around this part of the park.

Then came the Polar Bears, where my ambitious plans ended up eating time, and are still unfinished, but are almost there. Just some more rockwork to do, especially on the ice cave tunnels to the viewing areas. I will blend in the mountains with the rest of the landscape when I get time, and inclination. I was in need of a rest from this exhibit!

Whilst having a break from the Polar Bear complex, I've made a start on the main entrance, still lots to do on this as well

Wow, you're really artistic with the roofs and the terraforming! I love those caves for the guests around the polar bears!

Thank you, that's really nice of you to say. Took a lot of work, but I think worth it. I took a few screen-caps whilst building it. I've never felt the need to take screenshots of a game before, but this game is just so beautiful I can't resist!

Finished the zoo entrance over the weekend, though at the end I discovered my two cute polar bear cubs were slowly bankrupting my zoo, so have had to spend some time getting back to some level of financial stability.which happily has happened pretty quickly, got some spend happy guests in there.

Things have come on apace in my zoo since my last post, lots of new features and creatures have appeared.

First up, was a new home for a pair of Siberian Tigers. I started with a bit of terraforming on the other side of the mountain I created for the polar bears

Next up came some rockwork and planting, although I still need to go back and sort the planting properly, and finish the rocks.

I wanted to give the impression of the river continuing outside of the habitat, so I came up with the idea of a culvert through the fencing, I spent WAY too much time on this, but it looks pretty awesome.

Nikita seemed to like it too

The climbing frame inside my tiger habitat provided enough hard shelter to keep the tigers happy, but I plan on covering most of that in rocks so set to work on something more substantial for them.

I was concerned the tigers wouldn't use it and stick to the climbing frame shelter, because cats can be, well, cats, but I needn't have worried. As soon as I un-paused, they made a beeline for it.

After one sleep, it was clear the tigers loved their new home, and I was instantly rewarded with a cub.

Oh wow, so many beautiful details in the tiger habitat! The round shelter is just amazing, modern and yet so cozy :)
