I want him

We'll probably get it. A mountain centered pack is way to good of an opportunity for Frontier to add another cutesy fluffball mammalian carnivores to pass on.

Yep... although I personally fear an ideal Mountain Pack would be too Himalayan focused... Markhor, Pallas's Cat, Himalayan Monal...

Tbh i don't expect an Himalayan monal. I think we are going to get two ungulates and most likely not the ones we are hoping for. Pretty sure they will go with something like markhor and yak instead of takin, no bird but yes the bear and the cat. And another animatronic in a glass box.

That sounds... kinda lame to be honest. Also, can't imagine why they'd pick Yak over Takin... other than to be some kind of contrarian...

Because is lame lol

I'm just keeping my expectations realistic if the latests packs are anything to go by on how Frontier is handling the animal choices for DLCs.

We all expected the tassie for the halloween pack being one of the most wanted animals for a while and perfectly fitting the season. Instead we got another NA focus pack with a bunch of urban plagues.

We all expected a Tropical biome pack to be an animal pack and to be the perfecto chance to get monkeys and birds, instead we got SEA extension pack with a building set, half of the animals from that same overrepresented region and both being another version of already present animal types that fill the same nich and distribution (siamang/gibbons and komodos dragón/asían monitor).

We all expected the desert pack to be a geographically and taxonomically diversed pack and we got... well the arid pack

We can also even consider the inclusion of the lechwe and the spectacled caiman in the great wetlands pack over things like a waterfowl, a pelican or something more unique like a habitat turtles.

And other than the emu that was long overdue we haven't got any other bird.

I like almost all the animals that we got but the packs were not what we thought they we're going to be or what we would'v prefered them to be. Si i try to push my personal wishes aside if we are talking about what are we likely to get considering those trends.

I want him, too! I even dreamt we got them in the next DLC. But I don't want to have hopes. The disappointment would kill me.

I might be wrong, but I think a yak is much better known among the general public than a takin, which is more appreciated by zoo enthusiasts. For example, there are many documentaries about the Himalayas that show yaks. Some cartoons also have yaks as characters (I can think of the Zootopia yak as an example).

Yak is way more commonly known in my experience, a great example would be my local zoo (highland wildlife park) has 2 habitats right next to each other - one is a shared yak and camel habitat and the other is takins. Everyone seems to instantly recognise the yak while many comments observed of the takins are people thinking its another kind of highland cow.

The Meta List says otherwise... Takin is at 11... Yak? 93...

That list represents the opinion of zoo enthusiasts who invest their time in joining a specialised forum, not the general public.
Okay... but it doesn't change the fact that Frontier clearly shows some amount of bias towards animals higher in the Meta List. The Takin is one spot short of the top ten... whereas the Yak is just barely within the top one hundred. This alone says the Takin is far more likely...

I've never seen a Yak in a zoo... I've seen Takin. Also seems odd that people think the Takin are some kind of highland cattle when that's basically what a Yak is...

It's the Scottish Highlands, there's highland cow literally everywhere :ROFLMAO: Some people aren't the brightest up here.
