Marlinist Colonies: Peace and Reconciliation Commission

Omega Merchant Command invites any and all friends of the Marlinist people to join a dialogue towards constructing a durable and lasting peace.

We implore all reasonable commanders to join us in bringing together the squadrons present in Marlinist systems and interested third parties to craft diplomatic agreements that are mutually beneficial to all involved parties.

The only plan that can work for us players, is converting every Marlinist colony into another faction. Some of them already are, in fact, and we just need to finish the job.
What do you mean convert them to another faction? I want Marlinism to spread, not shrink! (Or have I missunderstood what you meant?)

Sure. Let Marlinist factions take control of systems they were given. We're not interested in stepping on your toes and don't plan to be an expanding threat. We want to have a home that's under our control.
Step back and let Marlinists take over Yano's Prospect in Hyades Sector AB-M b8-2 and we might prosper alongside eachother.

The Marlinists are all NMLA. That's the story Fdev have clearly written, whether you like it or not. It's also clear they are going to drag this out with the major powers bickering like school children about whose responsibility it is to do the cleaning up. We the players also have very little power to actually change the course of this story, with only Fdev approved CGs and activities if we want to get directly involved, which is guaranteed to lead the story down one path.

The only option left is an indirect approach, of 'destroying' the Colonies by putting another faction in charge, and hope Fdev notices and makes that event canon in the story.

Where? On here?

If so there may be issues with "dialogue" and "reasonable commanders". :p

If there's going to be peace and reconciliation, could it just wait until after we've finished booting out the Empire's incursion into Marlinist space? Ta.

As Frontier left those colonies with a dangerously low faction count, increasing that throughout Marlinist space could help make invasions difficult.

The diversity of opinions on the Marlinist colonies reveals the challenges facing squadrons present in Marlinist systems.

The reality of the Marlinist situation is that squadrons are present in Marlinist systems and will continue to expand into these systems.

Therefore, it is important to create a constructive forum for independent commanders to share their goals and concerns with the squadrons present in the Marlinist systems.

OMEC prefers diplomacy to warfare and we have established consular relations with other squadrons with stakes in the Marlinist systems.

The fate of these colonies is not for OMEC to decide alone, but requires us to dialogue with other interested squadrons.

We would humbly submit that if your goal is to promote the health and welfare of the Marlinist colonies, dialogue is a better avenue than asymmetric warfare.

It is difficult (if not impossible) for us to interact with a large number of individuals who represent only themselves and are likely working at cross purposes to each other.

As this forum indicates, some individuals promote the Marlinists and others want them crushed.

OMEC wants what is best for these refugees, but that must also be balanced against the security interests of the Federation, Empire, Alliance and Independent powers.

Let us reason together about the best way to create a DURABLE arrangement that is in the favor of the Marlinist colonists and the squadrons present in Marlinist systems while addressing the concerns of the superpowers.

OMEC is present in the Marlinist system LP 659-31 and after a conference with the other squadrons present, we reached an agreement allowing the Marlinists to remain in control of that system.

However, the Hyades sector is an entirely different situation. OMEC was forced to take control of Yano's Prospect due to the potential for radical Marlinist elements to seize nerve agents, as we reported.

There are many challenges ahead in improving the situation of the Marlinists given the actions of the NMLA. OMEC continues to believe that dialogue and coordinated action is the best way to advance the interests of all interested stakeholders.
