Mass Effect 4

To my mind games and to a greater extent the stories they tell have become much like Big Screen movies. There is talent out there but it never seems to get where it needs to be. The big studios can't seem to break the mold and get that talent writing for them. Andromeda from EA is no exception. The story is fine it's just not doing anything terribly unique.

I've now put almost 50 hours into the game.

1.) The graphics for the characters are... well they just are not good at times. The latest patch has changed some things but I haven't played enough with the patch to really give a lot of feedback yet. Lip sync is horribly broken. There are times animations are just... bonkers.
2.) The graphics for your zones/planets/moons are mostly awesome. While on ship/station it really isn't superb, but once you get land side, it gets a lot better. The shear difference between the major Golden Worlds is stunning and at times awe inspiring.
3.) Voice acting for the most part is meh. At times it is HORRIBLE. Most of the time its just MEH. You can tell a lot of the voice actors just mailed it in.
4.) The overall storyline thus far (I'm about 75% thru it according to the EA thingy) is OK. Its mostly just tropes. A superman/woman saving the universe. Meh. Nothing really new there.
5.) Why are all the races in the game bipedal humanoids? BORING
6.) Some of the smaller missions are tedious and have no point at all, but you just gotta do them.

I hate to say it, but as a HUGE ME fan (Hell I'm wearing an N7 hoodie to work today), ME:A is the worst one for me.

I think the plot was good , but I play mostly from a lore perspective. the conections to the main plot of ME2-3 got me hooked. the call backs to the golden age of ME lore are awesome (back to plausible armour for example)
I think the voice acting is great for the main cast. the MP voice acting however.... I dont like.

To be honest I just love the story , its like ME2. the main thread is intresting. but not the best part of the game.
I dont think by any means ME:A is the best. to me its n3. it could have been better than ME2 if they went in more bold directions but they did not.

Still the way it fixed so many plot holes from the comics made me so happy. the conections to ME2-3 are aweomse.
It does feel in a way like an origin story , as if its the first part of something bigger. and I loved the dark implications about the ending of ME3... seems there was no magic lightshow that saved the galaxy... at least thats what I hope they mean

The main races are indeed humanoid. but there are many quadrupeds , flying things and the remnant.
I like the angara but dont think there stance is very good (if that makes sense) the kett could have been better IMO. they could have been reaper.
I would have liked the plot being that we unintentionaly got the reapers to follow us and we screw over everyone in andromeda. but I think most would find that boring... just wish the reapers got more to do in the franchise.

The old way of doing it was (IMO) due to a lack of innovation and wanting to emulate the pen and paper way.

No. It's a fundamental game mechanic difference. Innovation has nothing to do with it. There's nothing innovative about action mechanics, they've been around since Pong.

They will never abandon the franchise. Instead they will "adapt" the franchise to suit the bigger masses to get more money. Just like they did with Dead Space. I'd rather have the franchise die before EA changing it to become just another mindless shooter...

I played it most of the day yesterday, it was fun, the RPG part of the game is ok, so I enjoy my play session at the moment.

50 hours so far and the game is incredibly good.

Incredibly good is not a word I would use, it's ok on a average level, the animations are horrible, but you can ignore it. The story is not as deep as one could imagine from the ME franchise, and there are just too many bugs for a game
that is an AAA game.

Too much console pew pew, however the game is still fun, and enjoyable in it's own way. The funny part is that many game studios think 12 year old pew pew is want will sell a game, however mostly they are proven wrong over and over.

Have to admit that while I enjoyed playing ME:A, having now tried Deus Ex: Mankind Divided I have great difficulty getting myself to boot ME:A. The gameplay options, scripts, atmosphere, its all just so basic in ME. :(

Have to say it's been a few days since I booted it up mostly because I can't invest a solid few hours in it at the moment. Been playing bf1 again for the odd hour I get here and there.

That's not what you said here:

It looks like the only consistent thing there is you like to "correct" what other people say.

Well, I was just making a point, it's a good game, but not incredible good, incredible good would need a bit more.

Anyways cupcake, don't like ruin your day, it was just an opinion among 1000's on the internet ;)

As much as I love it, and I really am loving it big time after 60 hours in and still going strong...even though I do see flaws and bugs aplenty, patch or no patch. Its also not entirely original mass effect, although its dressed up to look like mass effect, the gameplay itself reminds me of the old borderlands series and to some degree destiny.

Im not gonna sit and deliver some speech about why it doesnt have the same pace as previous me games...it just doesnt. Its an attempt at using the mass effect background as a baseline background without the beloved Shepherd, while adapting the game and hugely expanding the crafting options. Me3 literally destroyed any further milky way storylines, and Shepherd simply couldnt be used because of how ME3 ended.

So the game has had to change...purists and fans are divided. Welcome to the fickle world of a fussy audience and an internet full of heroes and villians.

As fer me, Im 74% in veold with just the kett base left to clear...on hardcore which will take the rest of the night and probably a bit more using a level 27 soldier.

Im absolutely loving it...thats why Im not writing a speech...cyas tomorrow ^

Exactly, and the game is incredibly good especially if compared to the other just "dangerous".

Well the planets to explore are damn pretty (I really like what they did there) but characters, they design/story/dialogue - its not improving imo, the more I play the more I feel I wasted my time on a pretty screenshot simulator and not ME role playing game where I should care about what's going on and who I interact with. This game is just makes me more and more angry and upset. I do wasted my time I think - my most anticipated game gave me pretty much nothing. I`m putting ME: Andromeda next to lasts Dragon Age fiasco and just moving on. Its literal rage quit - well I`m glad some of you guys really enjoy it, nothing wrong with that. Maybe I just cant separate this game from the previous timeline in ME universe that I like so much.
