"Material drops at settlements provide only one item instead of three. This is intended"

LOL, that's all I can really say. Seriously, what did anyone expect? Did you expect good things from the RNGineer change, really? It was bad in the first place for a reason; the change is bad or will be bad for a reason. Nothing changed with those that make the changes. Enough said.

The fact that god roll are not RNGesus anymore and secondary effect can be chosen as special effects are great enhancement to engineers.

Forcing people to go from G1 --> G5 was ok because of material/data traders, but the fact that G4/G5 takes so many rolls and/or G4/G5 are hard to collect is bad.

A few tweak to that and Engineers are great.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is FD's lazy programmers.

The fact datapoints refresh after each relog is not a feature; it is a bug that first appeared in one of 2.3 patches. Also known as "Cracktrain", since it was used to farm CIFs at Dav's Hope.
It was subsequently fixed in 2.4, but appeared again in 3.0.

Apparently, FD is too lazy to make a proper fix, so they nerfed all drops that come from surface datapoints instead.

I maxed out my MEF a while back just by doing Planetary Scan Missions that pay (5) of those as a mission reward. That is in addition for whatever data I pick up when I scan the beacon on the planet.

I also picked up a bunch of these from those A to B cargo transport missions that always deal with 180t of cargo. Those either pay a high CR total or (5) MEF or Ex Focus Crystals. I have also maxed out my capacity for those as well.

Maybe focus on getting these another way?

It has even been mentioned a few times, in this thread, this change is for patch 3.0.3 and that we are still on patch 3.0.2

Will talks about issues and he is saying, that it is working as intentend -》 actual content and not future content.

I guess he said material an meant data, as the data is sometimes also called as material. Or have you seen an Databroker? ;-)

Sure, you can get to min/max faster* now - everyone can get to min/max now. Is that what you wanted? To hurry up and get to max? Really now it's hard to defend these silly changes for the most part especially the change to start from G1 and time consuming jumps to hidden traders. * EDIT: maybe faster as the new 1-drop change will certainly slow you down LOL!

The grind to RNGineer rolling was always the bad part. It wasn't fun grinding. Guess you like waiting for HGEs then waiting again for the RIGHT type of HGE, and waiting again for DWEs and RNG arsenic spawns. All of these require zero player skill; they simply required patience which has become tolerance. And now one needs more tolerance as the grind part is going to be even worse than it was. Read this thread if you have doubts about what the issue is and has been. FDev fixed the wrong part.

Just read all the current data for 3.0.3. Nada on data/material changes. Just seems that data is already at 1 per, with data points respawning after mode switch.

We are talking about materials, not data.

In addition not all G4/G5 materials can be acquiered from missions.

For instance all G5 High Grade Emission materials can only be acquiere in HGE... nowhere else.

Many materials where fun to get at lost site, like Dav's Hope or Anaconda crash site...

They could have increased materials reward from mission and from mega ship if they wanted to make them competitive...

But they like to increase grind and code new money exploits (currently free money to newbies and Destroy mission exploit

I didn't use to bother mode switching at Dav's - just land grab the mats - go out and blow up a few rocks and log for the night - next time I'd log in to play I'd have one quick run round and call it good and go do something else more fun - maybe do this .. what ? once a month perhaps.
After being unable to even log in without using non horizons client to get me off of Dav's Hope last night and them not bothering to use the forums to bother telling us about the stream this evening I decided instead to do something different.
This evening I spent 1 hour mode switching non stop and filling up at Dav's - I was waiting on a phone call anyways and didn't really have time to play "properly" - I may very well do the same every evening till this patch drops - I have very little engineering left to do - but hey I'm sure I'll find some use for the stuff.
You can actually get the stuff quicker sitting in a Haz rez with limpets out and cargo bay open - just vaporizing any idiot npc that wanders up, but I always like Dav's for the ambience and being a handy spot to go mine some rocks as well.
For a company that seems to have so many folk with comunity in their job titles they don't seem to know much about keeping good will.

Did the devs and designers actually play their own game; engineered their own ships from ground up and determine that this is intended? Or some arbitrary number pulled out of a hat? :D

I was responding to this:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ntended-quot?p=6524087&viewfull=1#post6524087

And most of the posts seemed to be talking about MEFs.

What material is exclusive to Settlements? I have every material available in the game in good quantities and I have never done a Settlement mission in my life. (Unless Planetary Scan Missions Count?)

In the link he says there will be one item dropped instead of 3. Currently you get 1 data and 3 mats so seems obvious he is talking about .0.3 changing things so you will get 1 data and 1 mat instead of 1 data 3 mats.

If that is not what he meant then he needs to clarify it because that what it is reading like.

I'd place a blind bet on the latter ;)

PS.
I have an idea for a Livestream :

Take the Designer of the Materials Distribution and Mat Traders to the controls.
Then task the guy to farm just 30 Datamined Wake Exceptions or 30 MEFs. He can use the Mat Trader of course. Should be easy, right? ;)

From what I understand Will means Data. There's been reports of the Data point pylons only giving 1 instead of 3. This is already in the game. The patch notes are just confirming that it is working as intended and is not a bug that will be fixed in this patch.

Yeah would be nice to see a Livestream of one of the devs getting materials to engineer a ship. Would watch 10/10
