In BioInsights Codex Companion the headings in the tables for each genus tab appear in either blue or orange. What is the significance of the different coloured heading?

It'll be something obvious that i just haven't twigged.

The blue ones have their variants coloured by star type. The orange are coloured by surface materials.

@MattG

Hey, Matt, where do the prices shown for biologicals come from? Are they from in-game data, or just known prices for things? I ask because the payouts are changing in the next update (14).

I'm just curious because we were discussing it in another thread.

They're "known prices", so they're part of BioInsights. Prices will actually update (hopefully) this week, before U14 - I'm in the middle of rewriting a chunk of the internals of BI but hope to have something to release soon.

I'm really hoping it's simply a multiplication, and not individual re-pricing per species.

Ok, so you are NOT getting the prices from the Frontier API, then?

We were wondering when the prices for a scan were determined, you see. At the time of the scan, or at the time of sale? Because with exobiology prices going up in Update 14, does scanning anything right now make sense, credits wise?

Had this exact conversation somewhere else today. I'd be surprised if price was set at time of scan - but it is set at time of scan for exploration, so who knows? We'll find out in a few days I guess :)

Hehe, well thanks for the insights :)

Yeah, based on what we can tell from the journals, price being queried when you'd sell the samples seems more likely. It would also better explain the bug where VG on carriers doesn't take the 25% cut it's meant to. Still, it would be good to know for sure, and I asked the active CM here, her reply was that she'll get back with an answer later. I vaguely recall something about the buff coming before U14 goes live though: if that'll be so, chances are good that the prices will be adjusted at the weekly server restart on Thursday, and that'd be another point in favour of the sale price getting determined at the time of selling.

Haha, I see what you did there :D

he said " Won't be coming this week , won't be coming next week , and won't be in update 14 either " but ok =-P

That's curious;

So which is it? What you said the first time or what you said the second time? Are you just making stuff up so you are right no matter what?
LOL , no , Since it's Thursday , i count this as ' This week ' since the broadcast was last Friday , so ' Next week ' is from tomorrow onwards.

Well in real life it's Monday to Sunday , but in Elite it goes from Thursday to Wednesday because Thursday is when the ' Tick ' happens =-)
and now i understand the confusion :D

No, a week is a week, and when someone says "next week" it is universally understood to be the Sunday to Saturday week (Sunday actually being the first day of a week). If they meant a different time frame they would have given a date or a number of days, that's how it works, next week, even if mentioned on Saturday, means the coming week starting Sunday, not some imaginary week starting Thursday! if someone tells me "I will meet you next week", on a Thursday I don't imagine it could be possible be the not the coming Tuesday but the one after, because that's not how weeks work!

Sunday is the 7th day because " On the 7th day he rested " and that was Sunday.
But it's ok , we'll get it when we get it =-)

Haha, yeah. Except the Sabbath was Saturday.

From Encyclopedia Brittanica:
The Jewish Sabbath (from Hebrew shavat, “to rest”) is observed throughout the year on the seventh day of the week—Saturday. According to biblical tradition, it commemorates the original seventh day on which God rested after completing the creation.

Then again from the Wiki:
Sunday is the day of the week between Saturday and Monday. In most Western countries, Sunday is a day of rest and a part of the weekend, whereas in much of the rest of the world, it is considered the first day of the week.

So it's not the same everywhere you go. Amusing, eh?
