Alright.
Updates are available
here for most things. You
will need the latest version of Observatory Core for these updates.
Codex Companion
I've not had time to update Codex Companion for the new version of BioInsights. It is still useful for telling you expected conditions of a biological, but it will no longer correctly reflect what you've seen and where, and any marks you've set up are not processed by the new version of BioInsights - but check the BioInsights notes. Codex Companion
will get an update - I just don't have time at the moment.
BioInsights
BioInsights has undergone a significant rewrite of the internals (again!).
IMPORTANT: You will need to do a Read All to reseed the database it uses. Changes include:
- Much better at knowing which star is colouring a variant, even when it's not the orbited star
- Supresses most unlikely variants because they won't be present
- You no longer need to mark unseen variants to get notificaitons for them - in BioInsights settings there are now checkboxes for "Mark entries I've not seen in any region" and "Mark entries I've not seen in current region" replacing functionality previously provided by Codex Companion
- Contains updated prices for biologicals (thanks to @LCU No Fool Like One )
- The "notify on Stratum Tectonicas" option is gone but you can instead notify when any individual biological has a base value over a certain amount (default 15 million). Note that this option only triggers when the biological is highly likely, not when it is only a possibility.
- Predicts biologicals for autoscanned planets (they do not generate the necessary FSSBodySignals event to know what a body may contain)
- Further enhancements to biological criteria
- Added a notification for when a possible biological may be a new galactic codex entry. Emphasis on may - data is up to a week old at any given moment, I make no promises. Be sure to thank @Marxanthius for maintaining the data necessary for this.
The recent changes have now made it easier to add support for Horizons biologicals, and eventually support for predicting biologicals from spansh data where a system has already been visited by someone.
I still have a few bits I need to finish up, as well as addressing a few small things caught by
@varonica and
IGAU squadron members during beta testing, so expect an update fairly soon - but for now it's good enough to work in latest Core release.
Everything Else
These have been built against .NET6 but only had minimal testing. I don't anticipate any problems, but they're not been tested as much as usual. Let me know if there's any issues.
