Mechanic Idea: "Automatic" Construction

So I got a system with a lotta building slots and all the hauling is starting to be a bit exhausting and I though of an idea.

Let´s say I wanna build an Outpost and need let´s say 200 food cartriges among other things. Now I can go haul that stuff OR, IF I have a production facility already built in that system that makes these food cartriges these would fill up over time, the rate for this would have to be determined by Frontier but it would take some worry away from some solo builders with big ambitions and "little" time or patience, so when I don´t wanna haul for a day and do combat or go on an exploration trip things still progress in my absence.

What do you guys think? It doesn´t sound like a herculean horror task to implement, it could be a low priority thing serverload wise and would give the NPC something to do :D

Hauling is the entire gameplay loop for colonisation. There's nothing else to it. You could replace hauling with other activities that'd be amazing if we could protect NPC haulers from pirates or run missions for the controlling powers. You could add buildings that increased the efficiency of the hauling as the system progressed. A fully passive system that's just build a few outposts and wait for it to complete is not engaging gameplay for architects and or users of the system. The AFK solutions to colonisation should be a last resort. There's lots of improvements that could be made that add gameplay and those should be done before we get to ones that remove gameplay. There's no timers or pressure once the primary port is down. If you're fed up at least you can take a break with no consequences.
