Engineers Medium Security Settlement List and Guide for Modified Embedded Firmware

I've had 100% success for MEF drops from S4M bases this past week. Visited six so far and all have dropped MEFs. Also noticed the S3M bases all have dropped CIFs 100% out of the five I have visited since last Sunday. Easy bases to run with lots of time on the clock and no hassles. Actually have too much firmware now sitting in the locker! :)

Hope this helps!

Could you explain S4M and S3M?

OP repped, massive thanks

needed some modified embedded firmware for my five MCs on my FDL, found 2 med bases from the chart in the same system, got one drop from the first one and 2 in the other for 9 total,

I'm back again after 3 days being completely cut off from the internet (thanks to my iap).
Some news:
1) S1M, M2L maps updated (cosmetics)
2) A new google form created to simplify submissions of settlements data drop prospecting - here
Submitted data goes to this spreadsheet - ED H: Prospecting: Settlement's data yield

I tried my first one yesterday, those large industrial Med security bases are tough it really showed up my lack of SRV driving skill [hotas]
M5H and M6H bases - my own selection for srv driving skill tests=) (driving, not combat)

Great tip, thanks!

I got 9 each of MEFs, CIFs and SFPs after trying 7 or 8 S3M/S4M bases last night.

The bases themselves are almost too easy :D

Finally got a MEF at Dummer plant. I have ten classified scan fragments that are the same rarity from doing the exploration bases but that's RNG for you I guess.

If someone could post a clip of them doing a run on the industrial or scientific style bases or preferably both I would really appreciate it ,I'm struggling a bit with the maps (my fault the maps are good quality) the exploration style I allready knew how to do ...but i didn't know you could do it without getting a bounty.

Good to hear! I'm not a fan of the timed buggy races - way too aracey for me to enjoy - so this seemed to be the quickest option. Now time to find a quick path forward for those exquisite focus crystals...

I know what you are saying about the SRV driving skill. I didn't even have a hotkey setup for SRV Boost.
I never really needed it until I started hunting these MEF's. LOL

So I've just done 5 of the Industrial +++ bases and no MEF?

Any news on if this has been tweaked in the latest update?

Much sadness, do I feel...

1) Commanders, don't be too "attached" to "large"+++ layouts, industrial in particular - times of 2.0 has gone long ago. Since 2.1.05 all [medium security] bases are potential candidates for MEF drops, however medium/small size bases are - in general case - faster to scan. Also, while the dependency of particular material yield from base "layout"/function is not proved or disapproved so far, I can advise to take this possibility into account - so a good practice to check current statistics page.
2) Nothing in particular noticed about any changes in MEF drop ratio. In you want real proves - participate in gathering statistics.

Scientific - Hollos - A5E - Crossfield Horizons

btw ... great thread ... RNG gods hate me ... but very helpful :)
Thanks -i'll add this to the list, however, do you mean "large" scientific or medium size one?

I had two MEF drops today - both from ++ medium security military bases:
Clairaut survey in Meene
Brendan Installation in Deciat

Ok so I may have missed something in this 31 page thread (and apologies if I did), but right back on page 1 I did all but two of the 'Industrial Layouts' listed there near the top.

The reason being that I'm not a fan of SRV play. At all. These layouts offered three easy to scan data points.

In the end, opted for a 'rapid fire' variant of the weapon I was upgrading as it takes about 20 mins to get some Technetium instead (with the added bonus of the 'Special Effect' of +100% Preserve Commander's Sanity).

Hugely grateful for threads like this where individuals have given up their time to help out, think I just got RNG-unlucky.

Commander Devari's list in the first post contains only large++[medium security] free-to-scan bases (with some medium extraction addition). And this was done on purpose (at that time - 2.0 - they were only ones to get MEF's from without combat). However, a forum post is not the most effective way to deal with lists, so there is a separate google spreadsheet list with different bases for all tastes and with filtering capabilities.
Also, there is a dedicated site constructed on the base of that list by commander Haps (and I know that there is at least one another nearby finished) .
Maps for all types of bases are also available.
As you are "not a fan of SRV play" then medium/small size [medium security] bases are better - they require less driving (except M5H=)))

Many thanks; just as a point of clarity, SHOULD I have got some MEF's from scanning the Industrial Bases on the first page?

Seemed to get everything but, including a few 'very rare' drops.

Trying to work out if I was unlucky or barking up the wrong tree. I don't mind going back in a week (or however long it takes to reset) and having another go as that base layout in particular is very easy.

The answer: that was possible from those particular bases, so this is question of pure RNG (or "luck"). Some commanders got their MEF's there - I'm pretty sure in this. I've encountered situations with 6-7 base and anything except MEF. And situations when each base start to drop 1, 2 or more MEFs in a row.
However I once again remind you of the extended locations list or similar site - like this you can find bases near you current location and the choice is much wider.
Also, you can see the usual pattern of MEF drops on the "data" page of the statistics spreadsheet. I've just created a special filter view (named "Medium Security") - apply it to see a usual "pattern" of MEF drops from medium security bases.

PS: And while this layout (L1M) is easy (ok, after some practice they all seems to be easy), it's not at all the easiest one. I know many commanders that don't like it as there is a need to at least one climb/jump (to the extent that after many similar demands I've added "no jump/climb" property to layout descriptions and appropriate filters).

I know it's RNG so posting this list is kinda pointless, but in anticipation of needing to re-roll some of my weapons after the nerf I thought I'd better stock up on MEF so I can have a break to play something else knowing that I'm 'ready' for when the update drops.

I visited the following bases in this order, and got a total of 10 MEF spread over the 1st and 3rd bases on the list (I think the allocation per base was actually 4 and 6?)

Altair - 1 - Galvani Depot
LHS 2541 - A3 - Burnham Terminal
89 Leonis - 7D - Burgess Holdings
89 Leonis - 7D - Payne's Inheritance
