Meta-Suggestions list 1.9 Edition (6th edition)

It would revolutionise the game for me along with manual temperature control and the introduction of less dramatic map horizons.
I think manual temperature control and terrain swapping is probably a lot more feasible than creating new map horizons, as nice as that would be.

I don’t see how creating less dramatic map horizons isn’t feasible. They often create challenge maps after all.
It's the difference between doing it for a specific challenge map and doing it for every map.

I also didn't say it wasn't feasible, just less feasible, in terms of work put in vs result. Compared to the other two suggestions, new map horizons don't add a whole lot to actual gameplay and are purely aesthetic, not to mention not nearly as talked about in the community.

It's obviously possible to do, even ignoring the challenge maps, because they created horizons at all - it's more a question of whether they think it would be worth the trouble.

Glass or plexi elevated paths would be so useful. Guests could watch animals swim or "burrow" below their feet, or we could make terrifying tree-top glass floors.

More garden plants, like tulips, peonies, sunflowers etc.

Allowing the giant tortoise species to use the mud wallow would be cool since they do it in real life. They're also buoyant so allowing them to swim again like in the beta would be a nice touch. Also a decorative termite mound would be a good prop addition, I use the enrichment one as decoration.

The MENA region, South America and Oceania are the regions that I would say need to be further fleshed out. As far as places with literally 0 representation, that's hard to say. Iberia perhaps? But that's too niche for a pack, and I doubt people would be happy about it.

In Iberia we have badgers, fallow deer, flamingos, wolves and dung beetles. But I wouldn't oppose to more animals from here :D

Middle east, Sahara, Patagoña, and New zealand are empty.
We have the puff adder and scarab beetle from the Middle East, fennec fox from the Sahara (and also Middle East depending on how it is defined) and the cougar from Patagonia.

EDIT: This is continuing a discussion in the wrong thread…

Perhaps a little grace period of parents not immediately fighting each other when their offspring grow up?

Because they fight fast enough for one to get a serious injury before the animations even play out. It's instantaneous in most cases.
Yup. I recently had the notification about one fight BEFORE I received the notification saying that the cub had matured.

I once witnessed a parent becoming injured through the habitat status bar the exact moment the cub matured. No fight at all, just immediate injury.
while I'm pretty sure that's a bug the Issue Tracker hasn't let me report anything for months now

Increase grace period that offspring will not fight with parents, for both gameplay purposes and for realism. 2-3 years should be the minimum, but it could be larger than this. Make it proportional to the total lifespan for the animals.
  • For example, lions mature at 3 years old and become sterile at 15 years old. So giving male lions 3 in game years to live with their father would be a good compromise. At 6 years old they will start to challenge their father.
How's that?
