General / Off-Topic Microsoft Edge

I just tried this browser. I find it very fast.

Faster than Chrome ?, I can’t say.

I continue on Chrome but Edge is tempting.

What do you think of Edge ? There are disadvantages ? Is it the fastest ?

I don't know if it's the fastest but it's pretty fast 🏎️ Stable too.

Happy with the new Edge browser's ability to use Chrome addons 👌

Firefox all the way. Because plug-ins and flexibility. Can't say if it's fast, never have to wait for pages so any differences are probably imperceptible. Been using this browser since 2002 or so, probably also just a habit at this point.

Edge is like a slightly less annoying version of Chrome, which isn't surprising since they are both based on Chromium and Edge is implicitly a clone to work around Google using their market share to impose their own standard and sabotage other browsers. It's also a bit faster, but the difference is not likely to be perceptible.

Firefox is my primary browser as it's less bad when it comes to privacy. I still use Edge though, as it's the only way to watch Netflix in 4k on a PC.

I use all 3 - Edge, Chrome and Firefox.
But Firefox has the edge (sic!) when it comes about dealing with a lot and i really mean a lor of tabs

I even used the old Edge, but the Chromium one is actually really good.

Microsoft Edge is fully called Microsoft Edge Choronuim. Edge is based on the Chrome browser. MS has actually given up on Internet Explorer and adopted an open source browser.

I only know this because I was nominated for the roll-out at work as a beta tester. From a user perspective there should be no difference between Google Chrome and Edge Chrome. Microsoft have admitted defeat and accepted Chrome as the standard browser technology 🤓

Yes I know Edge is based on Chrome technology.

But I thought there may be specific improvements with Microsoft because I find Edge to perform very well.

However I have been using Chrome for years and it is really very fast.

Perhaps that it is my PC which is very well optimized and the connection to the optical fiber which gives me this speed. :)

Ah, sorry didn’t mean to be condescending.

The only differences I noticed were compatibility issues, like PDF reports not working.

Since I disabled the security certificates check.................
Actually I'd advise against that....... and I won't touch Google's Chrome tech at all; no matter how they badge it.

Firefox forever.

Slap the Ghostery and Adblock Plus addons on it and it's usable.

I'm using it on my laptop, mainly because it's just for work and I couldn't be bothered installing a Firefox on it. It works fine. Definitely more optimized than Chrome itself. If it had a Turbo mode like Firefox lite (for cellular data browsing), I'd even say it's really good!

I know, but for weeks I had numerous blockages to access the sites because of security certificates. And there’s a multitude of reasons for this.

So I opted for a radical solution and now I feel like I’m on a highway.

However, I am not totally unconscious. I always have an image of my disks and I almost never make purchases on the internet.

In addition my "sensitive" files are encrypted.

At each connection, Chrome displays that it does not approve this deactivation but the instruction works.

Chrome only has to find a solution to automatically adjust these security controls because there are multiple reasons and I have already spent enough time without finding the solution.
