Game Discussions Microsoft Flight Simulator

Currently 40% through a 46GB file (fs-base-cgl-0.1.21.fspackage.013) - I've had two download hangs already today - I hope I don't get another one in the middle of this file (as it restarts the download of the file being downloaded at the time of the error).
You could use the time to activate your UC aboard Mistake Not. And, some commodities to trade. :)

:D Didn't install UC - and the hold is full of tritium (and a few Hutton Mugs).

It seems that this large file is downloading in 32 chunks - so a download failure might not be as "bad" as I first thought. Currently at 77% (chunk 24).

Game is very unstable. Had it just quit to desktop 4 times over the last hour. When it.s running it seems ok framerate wise. Just wish I had a hang of the control system.

I had similar issues, then tweaked the GPU overclock a bit, shaved off 40 Mhz and now it is stable. Having said that, the performance is great (and now I'm flying above SW Ukraine that is heavily clouded, my cloud setting is ultra), the only stuttering is only when environment is loaded, can happen mid-flight.

Strangely addictive so far, and cruising actually does not interfere with other activities. In the future, I can see this being played on both monitor and in VR - former for the long cruises, latter for the more scenic and active flying I guess.

My house is a flat bitmap that looks like a bomb site lol :(

My house also looks -muchmuch better in Google Earth. What I've seen so far, the ground map is actually very basic for the most part, what it lifts it out is the lighting, colors (in the countryside), bodies of water, clouds and weather, at around 5000ft all look flawless and next gen. Overall pretty happy with the way it looks!

Ah, well. I bought some drones from you, and sold the data at Achenar for the Empire rep.

Back on topic: Today is an example of why you should wait until the game is stable. I'm waiting for the Steam Sale. :)

I was able to fly by landmarks (major roads, lakes etc) to my house from Manchester Airport, which is pretty amazing tbh. It does indeed look incredible. Just everything I'm checking out so far (St James park ground, my house, Man city centre) does kinda look ropey but still miles above any flight sim landscaping I've ever seen before.

Are you sure 3D building setting is at ultra? My entire little city is in 3D (though obviously not fotoscanned).

What setting is that? Render scaling / Terrain level of detail / objects level of detail?

They were all set to just below halfway based on my specs (1070GTX, AMD 3700X)

I think I'll take the middle ground and wait for the third or fourth patch... or for Fishy and Old Duck to get their installs working - whichever comes last...

Sadly I've not the will-power to wait 'a year' for the sales... although I do wonder if there will be deals in 2-3 months time when the helicopter DLC arrives...

My download speeds are dropping and it's not my internet... I'm guessing the rest of America is waking up and downloading this, thus maxing out the servers. Anyone else notice a dip? At this rate it'll take another day before I can play!
I've given up and shut it down...not only due to the same 1.2Kbps that Microsoft servers seem to be firing out but also so I can actually do something else with my PC except watch a little download bar remain static for hours or type on here.

Why not just grab a game pass for o e dollar and see if it works?

The one called Buildings under advanced settings. :)

Alas my home is a flat bitmap (near bottom of screen) even on ultra

Found Durham Castle to be a flat bitmap and Durham Cathedral was a block of flats... hey ho.
