Midnight Black (Friday) paintjobs now available

3250 each.

The MN Black jobs where always £3 each before if memory serves.
5000 ARX is £3 so 3250 ARX is a saving from last year.

The store is still expensive though, ive said it before an im sticking to my guns. The entire store is over priced all of the time.
paintjobs should be 50p to £1 each. Ship kits £3 to £4, Covas £3, Plants £1.50. Weapon and Engine colours 50p (example prices that im more comfortable with).
I would actually use the store and buy ARX if the prices come back down to earth.

I haven't been in the store for a long while but oh boy, the new interface is a disaster. Why is it not possible to just filter on everything Midnight Black or Stygian?
As fas as I can see there's no new Midnight Black skins this year, am I right?
No because there's not been any new ships.

From CMDR Yurina Roshida's comment on Reddit:

I counted and it takes 128,250 ARX to buy everything in Midnight Black. (Sorry I miscalculated, it takes slightly more than 85,000 + 15,000 and 25,500 + 1,300 to get everything if you haven't owned any in Midnight Black!)

For almost the necessary ARX (85,000 + 15,000 and 25,500 + 1,300) just to buy all of these:

  • £57.98 GBP (£44.99 + £12.99) ($74.81)
  • €70.98 EUR (€54.99 + €15.99) ($78.05)
  • ₽4,810 RUB (₽3,730 + ₽1,080) ($74.89)
  • $78.98 USD ($59.99 + $18.99)
(I forgot there was SRV in Midnight Black as well. I already had Midnight Black for two ships last year. We know some of you may have already bought a Midnight Black paintjob or two; they'll recognize it.)

Anyways, how does this compare to the previous system? If I'm assuming $3 per shipset x 40, that's actually some savings from last year.

This is the time where it makes sense to buy paintjobs for ship(s) that I/you may dislike, given the very-limited-time nature of the promotion.

I am not in game (only going by their Twitter feed) - Frontier are only advertising 12 Black friday paint jobs. (39,000 Arx) - are the others available as well or just those?

I would even have bought a Cutter, Clipper, Conda, and Corvette in Midnight if they were 1700-2000 per paint job but 3250 isn't going to happen when I can use my earned Arx for the Graphite versions.

Sorry ED but as posted above there are games on stream for less then your cosmetics.

The issue with pricing is there are two very different sides to the coin here.

We've got the people who've been here since Horizons launch or earlier. They already got most of the skins for free. No this is not a complaint or protest against "privilege", whatever that is. Just a fact.

Then we have people who joined the game later.

It is those people who are going to see a very high price for these skins as they didn't get most of them for free.

Just for perspective.

5000 ARX is £3 so 3250 ARX is a saving from last year.
I make a paintjob to be between £1.59 to £1.93 , $1.95 to $2.59 , 1.79 to 2.27 euro.
As you say, a bit cheaper than last year (certainly for £, not sure for the other currencies).

Dude, this is an Internet forum.
Don't be coming here with your facts and logic!

It's clear that ARX still confuse some people.... which to be honest thats exactly what Premium currancy is designed to do.
Some clever pants needs to make an ARX conversion website.

It converts to real money (select your national currancy (attached to current Values)), works out the price screw with larger bonus packs and sales, keeps a history of prices and when best to buy.

A complete resource for ARX/£$EURO/etc use helping the user know exactly what things cost at the click of a button.

Been monitoring midnight paintjobs, when and if they appear. Last year I got tempted and bought one for Adder. Checked price for current sale... and it looks like it will stay as it is.

And they say that in my country* black friday sales are just ordinary cash grab

*
which in most cases is true. While most of the world start sales at 60% and go down to as low as 95% discount, we have "massive" max discounts at 30% (from the previously raised prices, which is well documented - something used to cost 2199, now during BF it costs just 2399 after discounting from 2999)

If someone wanted to buy a single MN Black paint job today they are still being forced to spend that £3 though to get the 5000 ARX pack... then spend the 3250 ARX in game.

So for one Black paint job today... the price is still technically the same as last year. You are still down £3.

Looks that way. Not considering the ships i don't fly.. it only a must have on the Beluga (and orca and asp but i don't fly those). Might just be getting 2.. the beluga and taipan...
Stygian seems 3250 whereas Galvanised are 1820 each. If they're of the same type but just a different colour tone... well. No sale I suppose.

As for the MNB ones, expected those to be 3250 and that's more or less in line with what they used to cost last year. I probably won't buy any this year, Cutter & Vulture would've been tempting but I might just get Tactical Graphite instead, for free.

And since there's no way to filter by Stygian I cba to check every single ship... god Frontier. You really don't want our money do you.
