Probably a bit late to reply, but I tested myself with my Aspx. You need around 38.20 lys of jump range for the plotter to work (plotting a direct route to HIP 36601 without manually re-plotting on the way). The most barebone way to achieve this is to engineer your "FSD increased range" to at least level 2 and strip down some optional modules (cargo racks and such) that you don't need.
The reason for that level 2 FSD engineering is that starting level 3, you will need phosphorus to upgrade it, which is a raw material you probably don't have (hence the trip to HIP 36601).
