Although I must say, the view here is already so amazing that it matters little whether I reach EZ Orionis or just gaze at the nebula from here:

This is it. One jump to go. I am now right inside the "stream" of stars that the nebula appears to spew out into the void. It takes the game several minutes to fill in all the possible jump connections:

And it turns out the nav panel simply stops after a limited number of entries. My jump range is actually pretty precisely 20Ly, the actual list would go on and on...

Hmm I'm sure the black hole should be ripping matter off the star. Maybe they will add that effect later :)

Also a lot of the nebulas (inc the witchhead nebula) look like place holders. You can see almost identical ones scattered all over the galaxy map. Hopefully the known ones will get completed and the generated ones will get some impressive random designs to.

To give you a little perspective, the Earth is about 500ls away from the sun. But here I am, scooping fuel off a super-giant at a distance of 766ls!

Wow this stuff is fantastic. Thanks for sharing, it gives me even more incentive to trade harder so I can fit out a ship to explorer with (I wasn't a Kickstart backer :( )

Nice stuff, not looked at the black hole pics yet as i'm on my way to another one (BD+28 4211) and don't want to spoil the surprise. Of course, i'm doing this in my Freagle with a meager 10ly jump range, which is taking a while. Currently stopped at Scheat, and i said, 'Holy Scheat' when i jumped in too...

Honestly, when I saw the post title, I came in here thinking there would be easter eggs from Star Trek.... "Mintaka" is the planet which the Federation studies a race of Bronze-Age era people in the Season 3 Episode "Who Watches The Watchers".

Still, amazing pics, even if it isn't about Star Trek :)
