Missing mining equipment: Pulse Wave Analyser

Omega Mining Operation does not sell the Pulsewave Analyser, arguably one of the most important pieces of mining equipment. This will make it impossible for many to participate, and we were promised the equipment would be available at the station...

All of the CG materials are found through regular mining. I'm not sure if hot spots even exist for any of them.

No hotspots, however the pulsewave is needed to discover surface, and subsurface deposits, as well as the fissures. I mined in a wing with a friend earlier, and I couldn't even see the deposits after he pulsewaved them, so all I could do was use the mining lasers. They updated mining for a reason, and it should be available to us. Or they should not have said mining equipmetn would be made available....

Prospector Limpets can identify an asteroid with a core. You can visually see the other stuff.

No these show up with just prospector limpets.

Well actually I'm not sure about the fissures but the surface and subsurface ones showed up when I stuck a prospector on the asteroid.

You can see the fissures if you're close enough. The limpet identifies everything else and makes it all selectable for targeting.

Technically the prospector limpets are all that's needed to make use of the 3.3-era deposits. However without the pulsewave scanner, you have to figure out which asteroids have them yourself, either visually, or by trial and error (which wastes a lot of limpets). The pulsewave finds them at a distance, so without that, you're going to mostly be using the laser, or else spending a lot of time finding the asteroids you want.

This is true.

As mentioned, PWS isnt needed for the mats required with this CG. All the materials can be mined "the old fashioned way".

But the PWS is more fun to use, and makes mining more accessible. It's more than somewhat of an oversight from FDev. I got to Omega last night, bought all the hardpoints, then went to utilities and was gobsmacked to see the PWS not there.

I've done a little bit of normal mining, but it's soooooooo boring. My god is it tedious. I've got my Cobra Mk III on the way to Omega, I'll take part in the bounty hunting CG. Haven't done that for ages.

I also couldn't believe it, Who in the FDev team, when they were sat about having coffee and donuts said,

"Guys the DW2 fleet will be reaching the CG on their first week and as its a mining CG this would be one of the best ways to sell our new update and show off the amazing effects that we have spent so long working on. To that end what i want is for us to fill the station with all the new gear for mining. Any volunteer to do this?"

"Can do. I'm only the cleaner but i have seen you all do it before so i will happily take control of that". said the cleaner who just walked in to remove all the left over half eaten donuts.

That afternoon, Mr cleaner placed all the new mining weapons in the station, thought about the pulse wave scanner and thought there is no need as most of the scanners come standard on all ships anyway and im pretty sure this one will be one of the standard ones, so i can leave that one.

Of course this is only my theory. I cant believe FDev have done this, they have missed a trick here. I was so excited to have a go and deliberately didn't mine in the bubble so i could see the effects on the trip. Yet another let down by FDev. Idiots, no wonder Ed left them.

Anyone know the closest station that sells the scanners for the next mining CG at WP7?

If they just made mining lasers, refinery, collector limpets and prospector limpets available at Omega Mining Corp, then i'd understand not having it

The fact that they added all the new mining kit except the PWA is what makes it confusing.

Im happy enough mining the old fashioned way, but I'd much rather be cracking open rocks with the new stuff

Well, i say this again..

We were instructed to prepare for the fact that there might not be mining gear for purchase at Omega Mining and as a result, some of us prepared for it and stored the modules so we can transfer them.

Don't blame Fdev because you didn't read the instructions and warnings given weeks ago. We all had the same information given so you cant blame anyone else but yourselves.

PS. You dont even need the PWS with CG mats...

I fully understand what your saying and i didn't think i would be mining, in fact i was going to help in a wing by transporting matts etc as i have a phantom and not great for mining, but then Erimus or Dr Kaii posted a comment that FDev were going to stock the station with gear for us, i changed my mind, so again, im confused that they missed the PWS.

Also understand that you can old man mine, but i dont want to do that i want to experience the new stuff. can you imagine Nike coming up with a revolutionary new trainer that you can pump the sole up with air to soften the impact for various activities and fitted the trainers with the bladders and so on but then at the last minute didnt put the pump on the toe......

I could see similar cries from those who just brought mining lasers... There is no pleasing everyone. The PWS is pointless for the CG as it doesnt show the roids needed for the CG but those with expensive materials inside, and we are not looking for these.

That is simply wrong, because motherlode rocks tend to have more of the other resources as well. There is simply no reason that there shouldn't be a pulsewave available! Everything else is! This is noiw one of the most important mining tools...

I do not complain to just complain, this is simply a dumb oversight. It is literally the only piece of mining equipment not available at the station, and not all ships can include an exploration, and a mining build at the same time. There was no reason to not do this...

Great, i just had a look on EDDB and the closest station that sells the PWS is back at the bubble.

uuugh and i cant self destruct to get back their quicker as i have registered my last visited station at WP2. *sigh*

decision....continue on with old man mining or go back and get one.

@Surefoot I know you dont need it and i have already contributed using the old method, but i want...i want....i want.

(i'm not normally a moaner, but i just cant get my head around the logic of the decision FDev have made here. It's utter madness to create a whole new way of mining and then forcing players on a huge event like DW2 to mine the old way)

So good news, I juist logged in this morning and the base now has a shipyard! My mining ship is 15 hours away but I will have her. Even if the community goal has run its course I can mine some tomorrow, and I did get enough materials from the wing to be on the board...

The Pulse Wave Scanner has a much higher "tech level" than all the other mining kit, so virtually nowhere stocks them. Not that there are many stations in deep space at all, of course, so from a DWE point of view that's also true of all the other mining gear except for at Omega itself

If you're not going back to the bubble now, then your options will either be:
- buy one from Ogmar in the Colonia region (11kLY from Sag A*) as a detour on the way
- hope that the Sag A* station does stock them once it's built
