Horizons Mission help. please

I took a mission that said I was to hold a data cache until I was contacted. So, I flew to the target system and looked for the "target". How many days (IRL) am I supposed to wait for this mysterious "contact" before I just abandon the mission? I mean, I like exploring a system as much as the next guy but, I'm not too keen on flying around for hours waiting for something that never happens.

Did I do something wrong? Beside accepting the mission that is.

It should have an ETA on the contact in the mission briefing. You are supposed to go there and cruise around in supercruise and they'll come up to you and ask you to drop.

If they don't show leave the system or land at an orbital, then go back out.
