Horizons Missions a waste of time? Too many bugs in a final release! Why?

The AMD problem is something only AMD can fix.

You can fix it as a user too, by not buying AMD, like normal people would do :p

as for credits or progression etc, ED is a game like in the proper times where you truly have to find your way, it wont hold your hand, it wont dry your tears, and it is harsh and unforgiving. It is a awesome experience if you let it be. If not the game will be flat, dull and have little to no depth, content, or joy to it at all.

As for starting out, the only missions I ever did was the ones giving 100k+ credits for cargo transfering or retrival missions, not much a fan of the other missions (personal opinion). Bounty Hunting is still the best way to progression if you want a quick buck. (Y)

There's actually a rather interesting article about the different vendors, their practises and drivers. Whilst it's very much focused toward the OpenGL side of things I'd say it's probably applicable on a wider scope.

Should be pretty obvious which Vendor is which, even without the names. :)

The main vibe I get from this and so many other threads, is that FD is very understaffed. I'm not so sure that putting a 'we are hiring' sign at the bottom of the page is of much help. I don't know why they can't be more proactive in seeking the help that I would suggest, they so very badly need. Surely they could start headhunting if they so wished.

So are you guys saying that you would have preferred not to play Horizons over Christmas and that they instead make it availzble for play much later when they are more confident that most of the bugs have been fixed? Because the reality of it was that by the end of the established Horizons *private* beta period, not all the bugs were fixed, so you would have preferred them not to make it publicly available for play over Christmas?

In my case, as I have stated above, I valued their committment to finish the private beta period on the set date and then make it publicly available. It does not mean I don't find the bugs frustrating, it just means that I understand and agree with their schedule priorities.

PS. The answer to the above question is not that you would have preferred them to have fixed the bugs before the end of private beta because reality gets in the way of that concept.

Yes, we are saying they shouldn't have released it. If you wanted to play it so bad you could have shelled out the extra 15 dollars for Beta access. The reality is that beta was a joke of only two weeks. This should have been in beta for months before release just like the original release. It was a waste buying the beta access as it lasted less time then the testing of 1.4/CQC. CASH GRAB.

Just stumbled over one of these. Since it sums up alot of issues all in one convinient image, I kept it :

ELITE-GroundMissions.jpg

- nice reward guys... feels like "old times" in an E-Grade Sidewinder back in Eranin. Oh wait, my very 1st delivery Mission to Styx yielded more than that *g* (and payment already was far lower than what we have today)

- ELITE Explorer Rank needed? To find a Planetary Base within the same System? *uhm* Really?! ELITE Exploration for a Courier Mission? *lol*

Oh well, I guess it'll take more time until we actually get some real Missions for Explorers

PS.
If I was Frontier... hehe...
We'd have this Mission, still looking exactly like that.

But should someone take it :
- gets surprised by multiple Interdictions, tons of enemies
- Interdictor Wings don't immediately open fire but demand you to abandon the Mission instead
- eventually gets resolved by multiple Capital Ships unexpectedly jumping in
- upon re-entering SuperCruise, Player finds Wings of System Defense forces now announcing safe escort to the destination
- after handing it in at the Destination, the recipient isn't the one expected (explaining some deeper story and explaining the CapShips far away from its home space)
- Reward gets an accounting error stated and multipled by Factor 100
- Player is like "WTH did I get myself into ??!" :D

I'd like to say you were doing well until this part, but no, you were not. As to the other parts of your game issues, I think others have covered it.

I'd like to address this whole SC tripe. You are of course kidding right? I know you're not. As I recall they recently released Alpha 2.0 correct. I watch a Scott Manley vid about it. Very NOT impressive(not Scott Manly, I like is vids). Lets start with the part about how one of the big wigs really likes the view bob while in FPS mode walking around, or should I say running, cause if you walk, the Sun will run out of hydrogen before you get anywhere. View bob was annoying back in UT 99, and it's even worse today. At least in UT 99 you could turn that off! Next in the vid, I really liked how SM was able to wax the player parked at a "repair dock"! Now that's good game mechanics. The list goes on, but you should do some of the research yourself about SC, but I doubt you will if you can't be bothered to do any research on a game you're actually playing.
