Missions that require a random mission signal source are terrible

Why is this placeholder still in the game?

Assassination mission- I just flew around the target at different distances for 5 minutes. Nothing. I just did one previously, so it's not like I was doing it wrong.

Scrap the whole system, it's awful. Make it a fixed point for God's sake.

Runner Up- Liberation/Pirate missions. On top of having the random mission signal source annoyance, they ALSO require you to break a cargo hold and spew the cargo all over space. Bonus- collector limpets go out of range. Bonus- If your target is wanted, the police will come kill it. Bonus- if you don't have a manifest scanner, you'll get tons and tons of limpets instead of the target. Bonus- You can't disable them permanently, because they reboot/repair. Bonus- I hear that doesn't even matter anymore, because NPCs don't respond to their PP being blown out.

If you're going to scrap missions wholesale (and we can see that isn't a problem when they're popular money makers) for the sake of the LORD OUR GOD, SCRAP THE AWFUL ONES FIRST.

I have to agree especially with assassination missions.

Got to planet and.....wait. This is meant to be exciting, going into combat against an elite pirate / terrorist. Instead it's dull.

Not tried the Liberation missions, I read they are broken or can be broken by any number of things out of your control going wrong as you pointed out.

I really believe FD need to hire an outside dev company with a pedigree in building fun / engaging game mechanics to look at missions and the whole BGS...it's just tedious and generates tedious missions.

I agree the waiting bit is very frustrating, ideally it should just spawn as soon as you arrive at location, it doesn’t add any realism by having a random timer.

In addition to the otherBeyond stuffs this year a little tweakage on these type of missions would an amazing QoL boost!

Yeah its tedious alright...works a few times before the novelty wears off...20 minutes flying random circles around a random planet really aint that much fun...especially if yer already wanted in that system in which case ye not only find the target...eventually...but ye run the risk of having his buds joining the party too which is just laugh out loud annoying and ye got no choice but to jump out and reset the mission which just wastes time.

So much fer them not wishing to waste our time hmm? They certainly in no hurry to put their money where their mouth is thats fer sure but we shouldnt complain otherwise we could lose yet another mission chain to be ¨fixed¨

I do these and black box recovery missions all the time and never had a problem with them popping up with a minute of coming into orbit of the planet

Yes and yes.

The assassination missions, are my favourite form of mission. But the delivery system is awful. Sometimes you are asked to go meet a contact before being told to return to the same system and re scan the beacon, which is long enough. But then depending on where the signal source is supposed to spawn (say between two close planets), it will just never appear.
I've waited as long as an hour, circling a planet tryna find a sweet spot that will be acceptable for the USS spawn condition.

Even if you are lucky with these, the process as it is just drags down any earning potential these missions might have in terms of C/H.

It's great when they are flying around in SC, or when they come and interdict you. More of that please.

How much are they paying you to say that?

Honestly with 3.0 they have been showing up even faster. Even when I have 2 for one planet and once I jump back into SC I got the next one popping up right away.

Line up with the side of the planet as you approach. Fly by at about 20Mm cruise by go out till it goes back into LS. Swing by the other side doing the same thing and it pops up for me at least.

Ok I’ll try it. But if it doesn’t work I’ll know that you’re definitely a spy

That's certainly true - they seem to have increased the USS rate especially in low-population systems significantly. I had one that took a good few minutes to show yesterday, though ... not counting flying the 200,000 Ls from the primary star in the first place.

Changing them to be slightly more persistent, so they show up within 1000Ls like a RES once you've scanned the nav beacon / honked / just got lucky with your guess about which planet would be nicer, though.

Right.
I'm the first to moan and whine about RNG (See USS material gathering).......
However, at present I'm doing these very missions and every time - once I'm in orbit of the target planet I get the USS within 20 seconds.
Now. If the planet is >10000 away from the primary star let's not get into travel time lol.....

ps - since I actually was travelling 10000 to a planet whilst writing this I can honestly say I got the mission objective before I got to the planet. NOT rubbing it in, but I think these targets work just fine.
