More Fun 4 Exploring & Traveling (Feedback for Development)

Hi, i would like more exploring, but it is just boring to travel endless time to a planet and scan it which is 50000 LS away (and more). Maybe there is a way for a faster speed up and a better slowdown to stop.
Or to make it possible to set (in a solarsystem) a drop off point at a planet, after it is detail scaned.

In this way its makes more sense to explore and come back (for exemple if there is a good mining point.)

I mean this game has 400 billions solar systems for exploring. This game will run out of playing and not even 50% will be explored.

I hope these thoughts helps to make this game better and more interesting for exploring and traveling.

Yes, higher supercruise acceleration and deceleration would be very welcome. (y)

Also would like slingshot mechanics, but that's probably far too much rework needed to supercruise coding, to make it feel Newtonian.

I believe any faster SC speed would need to be skill-based to keep the game interactive, like FSD supercharging, which comes with its own risks.

We already come in systems near a star, so a very risky manoeuver around it could reward you with a much higher SC aceleration. Since you'll be operating in nearer-than-safe distances to a star, you'll be going through very high heat in the process. The same could be done near planets aswell, with failure bringing you dangerously close to the surface (or deadly atmosphere damage walls in case of planets we can't land yet).

It must have been a week or two since we last a thread about this... If only there were a search function...

I doubt we'd even get to 10%.
Even given the new FSS which means a system is counted as explored now without even having to SC in it. We've only explored 0.042% :)

Gods, I would love that!
I've noticed when you get out of a planets gravity well in Supercruise / but before leaving orbit*, if you flatten your climb you'll actually get into a slingshot effect round the planet (handy when the jump point is on the other side of it), but as soon as you leave the sweet spot you drastically decelerate again, whereas it feels like it should sling shot you away from the planet at greater speed - tho' I realise that Supercruise is different from Realspace.

*Not sure if I'm using the right technical terms, when you're between the two lines on the HUD.

As I suggested in the AMA yesterday, all ships should have the original 1984 Elite installed for commanders to play as a minigame on their ships computers to pass the time on long supercruise journeys.

Yea that would be really cool!

I wonder if it would work as an additional "gravity assist" module?
Higher rating ups the width of the speedy go faster zone and speed a little, but ship mass is the biggest influence on max speed, the heavier the faster.

But I think it should be limited to sun's. And it should be using fuel at a rate based on speed. Which you are scooping while you slingshot. Eventually as your speed climbs your fuel scoop won't be able to keep up and you will start burning fuel from your tank

Yeah I don´t mind that I have to travel for long time to get somewhere. What bugs me is that I will do jump-scoop-point at target-jump again and again.

What would be great is if the proces of jumping would by more involved. For example something like skill based chain jump.
You would plot your route in map and when you jump you would follow ploted trajectory and need to apply right amount of thrust in right direction to slingshot your ship around stars towards the next and so on. Your chain jump range would be limited by your fuel tank and your "normal" jump range would be straight from star-star but you could increase it by the slingshot.
And you could plot route for long range. I mean you have three stars in row A,B,C.... You start at B and want to get to A but it is far away so you plot route to slingshot yourself around C. So you go from B to C but because you slingshoted back aroud you get some insane star to star jump range.

But this is just my rambling, what is important that there could be fun and skill in jumping and not the monotony we have today.
And something like that could be implemented for supercruise too.
