Mr. Brookes please confirm this lore change.

I kind of got the impression that part of the timeline will be filled in by the passenger missions. They talked about how some of the passenger missions will involve visiting places of interest, and at some of them you will be able to get information about what happened at those places and how it fits into the overall history etc.

Ah yes, I forgot about that bit!

I did ask about this at Lavecon. Michael confirmed that Elite Dangerous is a reboot in a way - one reason is the scale and size of the new galaxy that Frontier was able to create due to the modern technology. Many systems are not where there used to be in the previous games, the borders have changed etc. I have also asked about the new official timeline and Michael's answer was "We may publish a new timeline in the future."

Good info thanks Rootsrat!

Mr Brookes, I like what you did with the Thargoid storyline here.

By not referring to the Alliance, Turner, Argent, AAAI, the Quest ships, etc, this story is neither confirmed nor denied. We don't know if it happened, all that we think we "know" is just rumours, which may or may not be true, perhaps never to be revealed. I also like you painting the Alliance as "shifty", "dodgy" and generally not to be trusted, it's a nice counterbalance to us always considering them the goodie-two-shoes, and allows groups like SEPP, BC, etc to fulfill the role that the Alliance played in FFE.

Now if only I had time to get involved with the ED story. The absence of offline single player, and everything happening in real time, does make it difficult to really feel like one is involved, unlike FFE where the ability to come back a month later and not to have missed anything was great.
