Played Elite 2 like a junkie in my youth and haven't strayed into pc games in over ten years. So i went and bought a new computer, then a headset, then the oculus and just started playing this yesterday.... All i can say is wow!
I've boosted my unshielded fully laden sidewider into a station by mistake, i've travelled to the wrong stars, clattered around the station letterbox, forgot to buy items for trade bulletins, jumped into dead ends, burnt my eyebrows off forgetting to shift out of the sun, traded at a loss, and i absolutely love it.
After playing dumbed down console games i've totally forgotten how brutal a learning curve PC games have, Learning the hard way is far more rewarding. Quite astonished with how many negative, whiny posts there are about difficulty and basic things. People seem more inclined to stomp there feet on a forum than just go play the game.
Only trouble i seem to be having is finding a good way to use the galaxy map with the oculus. I understand this is new tech and things still need ironed out. Is there a workaround for swapping to monitor quickly? Tried searching a few threads but not found one yet.
Also, is there any beginners guide to what to trade where? I seem to be having trouble finding coffee for instance, even in agricultural planets. Does size of the system matter? I've tried using the trade routes in the map but this isnt foolproof.
Cheers
Freddie
