Multicrew trolling - it works!

Elite still is a 'dad' game so to speak, that hasn't realyl changed that much, the general issue is......its gotten steadily more popular with main stream and yeah....that brings many issues.

"dad game" is just code for "folks 'win' by playing in a way I don't like so it must be a bad game" - you'd probably own me seven ways from Sunday in a FPS, but if you met me in the dojo I think I could make a fair stab at kicking you through the wall and I'd put the guys in my old unit up against any bunch of gamers when the rounds are real. Lose the "dad game" attitude, because quite a few dads are older, meaner and uglier than you are :)

If nothing else it highlights how idiotic the implementation is.

No, not at all. It shows the maturity of the player. While the implementation can certainly be improved, the issue here is with the player, not the system. And the simple solution is to not open your ship up to strangers unless you have taken necessary precautions.

You should watch that kind of talk, m8. Some of us are not weak-willed children in the real world. Needless threatening language. Watch it.

Frontier can consider building a simple rights system where you can delegate which modules can be used by whom. Regardless, the ship's CMDR can actually simply disable modules such as SCB and HSL so they are unable to be used; crew cannot enable/ disable modules.

The method to control access, albeit rather coarse, already exists. Really that should be entirely sufficient. It seems very evident that this isn't really a problem with rogue crew, it's hosting commanders who simply haven't thought about what they are doing.

Frontier can't fix that. :)

Yes, they really can fix that - no such thing as "can't" just "won't".

That's not the way 'dad game' is interpreted to me, a dad game is a game that goes slower, less rushed and doesn't require you to compete in my book. Which makes many go "boooring"

Edit: But I think after rereading, that we are saying the same thing.

I've been using Multicrew to find lonely miners to pirate, lol. This is hilarious.

Join a miner, call out his location to your friend. Your friend arrives and invites you to MC. You join and pirate/kill the miner. Lol!

And how exactly do you find miners when you go back to MC in your mate's ship?

"He is in THAT ring right over there!"

Yeah, it does. It's a video game. If you're not designing it with the lowest common denominator in mind you're destined for failure. It's a rather obvious concept if you've seen a thing called "the internet" in the past decade.
Multi-crew was destined to be abused from the very moment of conception. Everyone even vaguely aware of their own existence could see it and commented rather vehemently during the beta period.

Well, my dad could beat both of you up.

Aannnnd time to unsubscribe from thread.

But but I was just going to tell everyone just how big me ....

Needless to say this thread has run its course, MC is open to trolling FD dont seem to care, and think people playing it should all hold hands and sing "come by are my lord" around the burning carcass that is MC.

Again I might not agree with the OP's actions but it proves a point nevertheless.

You can invite friends. So MC isn't dead.
Just stop expecting everyone who joins your open to the public ship to have good intensions. It's like expecting a public toilet to be clean.

This isn't just a "friend" invite issues - this whole issue is exploding over POOR functionality of what utilities should be managed by whom, let alone the bad payouts (and, although IMO, lack of an AFK kick system to prevent credit abuse) and bad connection issues.

No threat explicit or implied. If one is felt that says more about the one feeling it than about the one making a simple statement of fact. I'd offer to visit any venue in Scotland or northern England that you nominate for a friendly sparring session, to be followed by beers on me and swapping all the good lies at the nearest watering hole, but I'm not sure if that would be seen as a "threat" so I guess it's off the table. Win or lose, we'd both learn something from it :)

So you can troll in Multicrew. Can someone explain to me why that's such a big surprise?

I can also shoot my own team in the back in Verdun or Mechwarrior.
I can ruin a long raid for everyone in any MMORPG.
I can betray a fleet in EVE and get away with it.

What makes ED so special? Team up with people you know and trust, not complete strangers.
Problem solved.
