Multicrew trolling - it works!

I dont think the point of a computer game is to experience the dreck of humanity in your spare time.

Nice summation of a lot of issues here.
Should be on a banner that pops up when you click on "New Thread" or "Post Quick Reply."
May bring some sense into this forum...doubtful but one can hope.

Just leave doors in your house open for few days and get holiday :)
Then you feel better.

You should move to a better neighborhood.

I've left my front door keys in the door several times in the last couple of years. The postman very nicely rings my doorbell and laughs at me when I do this. So far no nasty people have appeared (though that's not to say it couldn't happen).

Cool!

That folks proves that locks are not necessary and you all do not need keys, alarms, security or all of thing. [haha]
Why the police exists? Who is a 'thief' or 'criminal'... hmm some kind of legend as unicorn surely.
Then do it always.

You should move to a better neighborhood.

Fortunately i do not need. My neighborhood is fine.

See ? Don't just assume, think a little!

Blocking a player from making free credits while being AFK is not something you solve by blocking the player. I would suspect that if this activity takes place it is with the consent of both parties. One friend giving free credits (and rank?) to another for just spectating or not even being there during combat.

Hello Commanders!

Final thoughts for the day.

To reiterate: we're not against implementing safety features for helm, assuming they work and fit into schedules. This has been raised a number of times in a reasonable manner, is something of interest to us, and if and when we have workable tweaks, we'll let you know.

However, I personally don't feel that ruining other folks game experience is a good or valid way to prove a point. To me it's no different to trolling for fun. Of course, opinions will differ, but I can't help feeling that it's ultimately not a great way to support the game.

Which is EXACTLY what we we are saying.

NOW DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Because the types of players who will exhibit this behavior DO NOT CARE about personal responsibility. They dont care about representing Elite in a positive manner. Hence the term "troll." If they can keep you from crossing the bridge you want to cross, they will, and if they cant, they'll make you pay dearly for it, usually in the most annoying fashion available.

SO FIX IT. Because you have not given us the tools to do so. And unless you do, your statements alone have basically killed your latest feature. And the graveyard of DOA features for this game is sufficiently crowded already.

Now i know who it was.
Anyway there is a block option so its not a problem.
You experience it once with each stupid player and then it stops until some got stupid again but no problem ... block block and... peace! \w/

There are two things that dragging myself through this thread has really driven home to me...

1. I do wish that when I have someone on my "ignore user" list on the fora (and there are quite a few :) ), that I would not have to see their drivel when it is quoted by others.

2. I would like people who say "it is called Elite Dangerous for a reason" - to be taken out and beaten with scrolls containing the actual derivation of the name whilst someone shouts "Git Gud".

Allowing random idiots onboard one's ship baffles me completely. Yeah the system may need a lot of work, but if u let em thru the hatch and the excrement went sideways cuz u didnt pay any attention.....one person to blame lol

You do realize that, in this context, what you're saying translates literally to: "If you use this new multiplayer feature to play with anyone you dont already know, and it backfires, then that goes on you and not on the troll who chose to ruin your day for their own amusement" right? Its basically the video game version of blaming the victim.

Unless you're going to institute EVE Style player bounties and systems, then outright allowing trolling in your game is WRONG. Its a bug, an exploit. You fix it. You dont go all forum dad and "please guys, this wouldnt be nice, sthop it." This is the internet. Have you SEEN 4Chan and other such sites? Appealing to people's higher nature only works when they HAVE one.

Either institute tools and systems to stop trolling using MC, or this feature is as dead as...well, every other feature since the flight model, now I think of it.

As far i remember FD told there will be a ship boarding option so maybe this is it :D

Just use a bit of imagination - telepresence hacking!
You just left open ports on firewall.

Even getting a random troll once can cost someone 30,000,000cr. The advice to simply not use the feature is not a good one and only speaks to the incredibly poor design.

I can't rep you again, but this made me actually cry with laughter.

Working as inteded. Frontier approved gameplay. I mean, Sandro actually stated that this isn't really something they want to fix and players have to "take responsibility". :/

we all know how that is gonna end up then..

Yesterday i've joined several ships, for bounty hunting and exploring.

Joining ships and just sitting there, doing nothing and get money for it, perfect for me.
If they ask why i'm not fighting, i said....oh i'm new to the game, need to figure out how everything works. (If they only would check my profile lol)

Now i found the option to deploy SCB's, which i did....oh nice, 3x cell banks.....enough to make the ship overheat.
The CMDR were slightly distracted and worried why all the SCB's are gone.
I said, obviously a bug *gggggg
Finally they figured it was me...but it was almost too late...they had to leave the haz res.

Found it more enjoyable instead of actually fighting.

I then tried to find some exploration vessels.....one were near Sag A.
Oh see, there are heatsinks to deploy.....the ASP CMDR hasn't realized it was me.
Another CMDR was even further away, heading to beagle point......and after my telepresence visit he lost all his heatsinks, i told him he need to restock and left.

What we have learned today?
Multicrew has flaws.....terrible flaws....which needs to be fixed. I might join some other ships today again, coz it was fun to troll innocent CMDR's.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

Whelp, that took some time to catch up. Amazing what happens in 8 hours.

I said before I have nothing left to say, and it seems neither does anyone else. Except NeilF, the only one to introduce anything new to the discussion only to get summarily ignored...eh, what can you do

Oh, I know

I'd say multicrew behaves exactly as it is designed ... to compare, it is the same as putting lion and gazelle into the same cage and expect lion will not eventually eat it ;-)

I think what`s particularly interesting is how these kids have the gall to come on a forum and boast about it. i`ve seen it several times here.

Once upon a time such griefers would have had at least the shame to keep their mouths shut.

In this instance I think it was to highlight how stupid the mechanic is, thus the response wasn't as vitriolic. Usually they are burned at the stake pretty quickly.

Yeh! Far better if they kept quiet about such issues and instead the problem left to quietly fester!

I mean, it's not like it's best if issues like this are highlighted, discussed and ideally then addressed!

Use a randomized matchmaker that the devs spent tons of time working on. And that by god is actually pretty great. And have the potential to play with new people at the drop of a hat like they intended and gushed about for quite some time.

Or

Only play with people you trust and give up on the idea of playing with new people and having even the slightest amount of mutual trust for your fellow man. (I already go through life with a strong hatred and distrust for all people around me. I really wish I could have this lifted from my video game life at least.)

Pick one. You could have both if you stopped being so stubborn and admit your system is flawed. But I guess we want to learn this lesson the hard way don't we?

There are not only two options. I pick neither.

Sandro we asked multiple times in the Beta thread for another tick box in the "Fire Groups" screen for the Helm.

Why can't I as the owner of my ship decide whether the Gunner can use SCB or HS? Maybe I want to do mining with a Gunner running turretted support, but suddenly the Gunner controls all the Turrets, Missiles, SCB, HS, & most importantly, Limpets!

Please consider adding more controls for the Helm.

THIS!^^ The blinding obvious and completely simple solution to the "problem". Why oh why are the devs ignoring this simple fix? As owner I should have complete and utter control over the systems that my invited crew members can or cant access.

Forgetting to incorporate this BASIC FUNCTIONALITY is nothing more than an obvious design flaw.
