Multiple accounts

Elite authenticates through the Epic launcher
So you have to check if you can start an Elite session (dont forget to quit Elite launcher), then sign out from the Epic launcher used for the first session, re-authenticate with the second Epic account, then try to start elite on the second account (the elite launcher should list the second account)

However, you may need to have different game libraries for each epic account and create shortcuts for each epic game (or start it from the epic launcher)

It's the first thing I did. I can change accounts as much as I want, on the sole condition of closing the process "elite-dangerous-64.exe" Epic version. No problem with another process of the same name under Steam.

My test with another user connected to another session gives me some hope. I just need to find a way to isolate one of the launchers on the same windows session.

ED Account Switcher

I have used this 3rd party tool since the time I got a second account and it is very easy. You literally click on a button before launching ED and it switches accounts. That is all.
I already try before you post but thanks, doesnt work.

This part manages to confuse me.

So you should have Epic Account 1, named EP1 with it's own library on lets say C:\Epic1 and obviously its own email address.
On this account you should have a working Elite, paired with a frontier account named EP1Ed1

And another Epic Account 2, named EP2, again with it's own library in C:\Epic2, a email address different from the one used for the first Epic account, also with Elite paired with a different frontier account named EP2Ed2

So you start Epic launcher, signed in user is EP1, start Elite launcher, then start the game. Elite launcher closes by itself, Then you need to sign out the Epic launcher then exit the launcher. First Elite should still be running at this point.
Then start Epic launcher, sign in as EP2, start Elite launcher, start the game - at this point you say you get an error that Elite is already running?

English is not my mother tongue, the confusion may come from there.

No error, just a message stating that Elite is already launched (see image).

Which works:
  1. Connect with User1 user in a Windows session
  2. Launch Epic and Elite normally with EP1
  3. While leaving elite turn and without closing the Windows session of User1, connect with user2 in the Windows session
  4. Launch Epic and Elite normally with EP2
Work with the SAME launcher on disk. But its stupid because I have to change Windows session to play.

Another information : If I connect EP1 in another Windows session or on another orid, I have disconnected from the first session.

That's why I do not think the problem comes from authentication, but rather the EPIC launcher who detects another Elite (only in the same windows session) and refuse to launch the second.

And I can launch EP1 and EP2 on two different computer at the same time, on two different Windows session, but never in the same session to enjoy the ALT + Tab.

And if I log the same user on another wond

Thanks for clarification.
Epic client feels stupid indeed, especially since it was reported that 2 steam accounts do work

Well, life is hard if you want to exploit the extra pip. And it should be even more so tbh :)

I sometimes dual-log my steam/epic accounts, but weird enough, not for the extra-pip - sometimes i use both accounts to load the same carrier or to participate in the same trading CG - saves time when you want the rewards for both accounts.
Sometimes i dual log and each account is in different systems doing different stuff (but generally trading - since that is enough slow paced to allow dual-logging while combat is not.)

The subject is not whether the multi account breaks the rules or not, but whether we can do multi account with two epic accounts. If the game doesn't forbid it, it's possible and I don't have to justify myself to you.

login/logout item in the menu of the launcher work only for frontier account, maybe for steam account older than 2019.

I found a way with legendary.exe

  1. Download legendary where you want
  2. in cmd line : "legendary.exe auth"
  3. login with the account you want (EP2)
  4. enter sid
  5. legendary.exe install "Elite dangerous" --base-path "E:\Video Games\Legendary\Applications"
  6. legendary.exe launch "elite dangerous"

With that, you can have elite with regular launcher with EP1 and EP2 with legendary

  • config file in : C:\Users\%USER%\.config\legendary\
  • if you want to sign out, delete C:\Users\%USER%\.config\legendary\user.json

I am having difficulties buying arx for my multiple accounts. The first 3 different account purchases for arx were successful but every time I try to do my forth account, it gets refused or reversed by the merchant as per my bank(my bank denies any refusal to pay). What gives, do you not like money or do you have anything against having more than 3 accounts? I have more than one cuz I have issues with the storage limits ;) Do I do each account once a day or something? This has been a great year for Elite Dangerous and I would like to encourage you all to continue this behavior. I was able to do it thru Steam but don't they get a cut? If you are a dev, I still have more accounts to buy for so a reply is welcome and I have put in multiple issue tickets.
