Welcome to the Muncie Zoo! We were founded in 1988 and have been continuously operating for more than 30 years! Located in New Zealand, we are home to more than 45 different species of animals from all around the world. Enjoy the tour!
AFRICAN HOUSE - ENTRANCE AND BONGOS
The first complex we will be showing at the Muncie Zoo is our African Jungle indoor exhibit. The building is home to 7 distinct species hailing from the forests and jungles of Africa! When you enter the building, you are immediately on the dirt trail that will take you on a tour through the jungle. As you make your way through the dense foliage you will come to the first stop on the trail. This exhibit is home to a herd of 6 Bongos, a forest Ungulate that inhabits the jungles of the Congo and West Africa. We have 1 adult male, 3 adult females, and 2 young females. Guests can get a great view of these creatures from the ground level or from the elevated walkway. From the ground level, the only thing separating guests from the Bongos is a small piece of glass and a stream.
