My first named bodies!

Just a brag thread really. 5011th system, 8941st scan on my 9536th jump and I have, at last, got my name on a system. Ridiculously (given how much the bubble and areas have been covered) it was only 100 LY outside the bubble and on a scoopable system.

So if you're ever fancying getting your name up in lights, go from the Orion Nebula back to Fehu and scan everything along the way. Bosh. It was a thrill to know I was the first person to ever land my weary AspX on the surface and go for a drive.

Yes I know that it's not much to have my name on 6 planets and a star, but after 1200+ hours and arriving somewhat late to Elite I assumed everything anywhere near the colonised part of the galaxy was well covered (a special hello to DaveX who had most stuff near where I was).

What about flying in a straight line, scanning systems until you realize that its ages ago that you stumbled across a tagged system?

I still remember my first Tag: it was enroute to Sothis, way back just after Sothis was built and before anybody ever needed or wanted to go there; in a fairly large, complex system, there was a string of remote worldlets that everyone else had ignored.

Orion's a popular destination, always has been since game launch. Last week, I visited the new starport they've built out there and didn't see a single Untagged system on the way out there. Not even an iceball.

I found my first Untaggeds this trip at about 1200 LY distance from Sol, while trying to skirt around the Col 70 lockout area while trying to go outbound from Orion to the Seagull sector; from Orion, I had to travel more than halfway back in towards the Bubble before it let me head back out again. The route plotter couldn't figure it out. I've got about 1000 LY to go to the outpost at Thors Eye, and so far I've found two ELWs, one already Tagged and one Untagged.

If you really want to find Untagged systems, you need to get out past 1000 LY while aiming for nothing. Once you get that far out and are off the tourist routes, it's the systems that have already been Tagged that are rare and unusual.

My last trip outside the bubble was a short tour round some local nebulae, including picking up a meta alloy from Maia for Felicity. I tagged many bodies a few hundred light years from Sol running roughly along the Witch Head-Coalsack line. That was only a couple of months ago.

There's still plenty out there not that far away...
