My Fleet Carrier is running away!

Drop out of SC at my Carrier, it's 11.5km away.

Seems like it's taking a long time to get to it.
Throttle down.
Yep, my FC is moving away from me at a rate of around 250m/sec.

Well, okkkayyy.

Get there eventually.
Glad I'm not flying my T9. 😕

Incidentally, I notice that thing is back where every station appears to be "sliding sideways" in SC until I reach 1000km and then they stop sliding.
I'm guessing this is related to my FC's reluctance to let me dock.

But yeah it bugs out, with some objects, like the listening posts, that just scoot away at 1000m/s

I noticed similar effects when trying to drop out of supercruise onto one of the many invisible comets in the game, specifically the one that Avogadro station is orbiting in the Tau Ceti System.

There is also the 1000km sphere of influence once you cross that line, you are inside it's that body's instance/gravitation "frame". So you become attached to that body and move through the solar system with that body.

Some planets and stations move VERY fast, and you got to chase them in supercruise.

Conversely, flying away in normal space from a station, once you passed the 1000km mark again, the station/planet will shoot off at Supercruise speeds (anything over 1000m/s) as you are no longer bound to it's "instance".

So I guess the bug is you drop out of supercruise at the object, but your ship doesn't register within the "objects" instance/gravitational frame/sphere of influence (or vice-versa)

Is there another asset (station, outpost) very close to you?
Has something to do with your carrier and another asset being in your instance, while the game choses the other asset to move you relatively to.

That happens when you and carrier orbit different bodies.
To be exact, pretend some planet is close to ice rings. Then you put carrier on orbit to this planet. At some moments carrier is between rings & planet. Now if you exit SC there, u're "owned" by rings and carrier by planet, so different orbital speeds.
Next time i will see that i will try to exit SC to planet, then start from planet to carrier, that could fix.
Or just wait while carrier will orbit further from "rings".

Weird - we haven't had anyone report that for ages, I thought it was fixed

Edit: Might be worth a bug report - maybe you found a special place :)
No, still happens. Being very close to other assets messes up your instance. Sometimes my landing pads are at another position than my carrier is, I even ended up once with seeing 2 carriers. This also corrects itself after a couple of seconds, but still...

Yep,

It got my attention that I'm dropping out of SC at 11.5km rather than the usual ~8.5km.
Further investigation reveals that my FC is moving away until I can get within ~8.5km and then it decides to cooperate and keep still.

Just as well I'm flying a Python with a top speed of 388m/sec.
I kind of want to see what will happen if I try docking in my T9.

Comets only have a 50Km Sphere of Influence though, which makes them a lot trickier to pin down :) As I'm sure you know
