My List of ->realistic<- wishes for the game till the end of the year

NPC Helms man/woman (autopilot)

The star jumping mechanic is just boring and we should be able to hire a NPC helms officer who can execute the route we plot on the galaxy map.
I would also like to see a deeper mechanic around NPC crew.

I like all these ideas, including the edits to date. Except I don't know what you mean by combat logging but you're probably right on that too.

I posted my own list a few days ago, https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/439367-Small(-)-quality-of-life-improvements. I think these ones would be realistic in the short term, without balance issues:

Remember active crew and automatically reassign them when I get back into a multicrew ship.

Allow us to assign all the thrust directions in alternative control settings. There are only five degrees of freedom in there for some reason.

Auto ignore materials I don't have room for.

Edit ignore list for both materials and mining without first finding the thing you now want to collect again.

Set decals on ships and holo-me to "current combat rank" etc. and have it auto update.

Decal settings for all Condors, all Scarabs etc.

A dashboard indicator for lights. I currently feel a bit foolish flicking them on and off to hear the sound.

Wing mirrors for my scarab.

Deliver ships to stations without shipyards?

Toggle power groups instead of individual modules.

Stop zooming the galaxy map in every time I click a system.

Audio warnings before station security opens fire. I was recently destroyed while in free camera trying to set up an angle for a video. Never saw it coming until the laser beams appeared.

Fixed cameras on stations accessible to pilots. Just like the ones inside the cockpit, but maybe one watching the approach corridor, one watching the slot from inside the station, one watching the player's assigned landing pad and/or one tracking the player's ship from the control tower by the landing pad.

I just have two wishes for this year.

- Removal of XP splitting

- Removal of NPC crew permadeath

That's it. Quite literally these are the only things keeping me from playing & enjoying Elite now, and have been since October of last year.

Wanted to pick up on this thread with added number 18 on the list. This one (optional internals breaking down big sized modules into smaller ones) is pretty obvious and has been wished for many times, so not sure why I didn't think of it earlier.
Anyway, if anybody has more ideas, I'm happy to add them to the list :)

Having a module rack for module-types: Scanners can go into one super scanner rack. Passanger Cabins better sizeable and Limpet Controllers, just because there are so many rigth now. It has been suggested by FD, that they think about it and I hope they don't back down.

There are a lot of very nice QoL improvements in that list. Would love seeing all that implemented considering Beyond is supposed to be about QoL. I'd also love to see the ability to dump fuel and eject optional internal modules and hardpoints. It would add a whole 'nother dimension to long-distance exploration, especially if another player could carry your ejected modules for you... but even if they can't, just being able to eject them would be great imo.

Since I started power play I no longer see the “illicit cargo” warning when I'm in a “hostile” system. Showing both warnings, or swapping the priority seems like another simple fix for your list. I already know that most of the bubble hates my boss, I don't necessarily know that the system I just got interdicted in has a hard-line smoking ban.

Remote ship transfer:
Already in you have to pay a fee to move ships around

Combat Log fix:
Never going to happen with the internet being so fickle there is no way of checking if its a real disconnect or someone pulling the plug, I would however revert said ship to a NPC controlled opponent to actually keep the game flowing smoothly

Ingame Wiki /Documentation:
A brilliant idea and one I would love to see in the game

Chat Improvement:
With the game being available in so many countries it only makes sense to make the basic conversation part of the game available to all and make it so it has some basic phrases etc.

Launch Abort:
One that I would love to see implemented with using the keyboard on the menus it gets a pain to have to go out again and in just because the menu didnt move.

Menu Loading and Animation abort:
Should be in there as standard ;)

Route planning with 'via' functionality
Another nice addition

Search function with auto complete and suggestions in Galaxy Map
Only for discovered systems or it will break very easily going through 400 billion system names

Search function within market screen
There isnt that many of commodities to require this really maybe a tab system where we could have farming, components, illegal items etc.

Passenger Mission destination order
Maybe add it to the route planner just add a mission order system in there so it can plot a route taking you through all systems on your missions using the shortest route.

Clipping:
I would love to see a interplanetary shuttle come back from a fighter bar (which is added as standard to ALL big ships) this would allow easy access without the issues

Beeing able to sell all exploration data at once
Oh yes a good one BUT with all the transactions required I think it might crash their servers especially if you have LOADS of first discoveries on your list.

Option of cargo to stay with stored ship (suggested by WindWpn)
Good idea as long as the timer still counts after all time waits for no commander.

'Sell All' and 'Fill the hold' button for commodities (suggested by zz9pa)
I like this one and I can see it would be useful

Custom Planetary surface bookmarks (suggested by zz9pa)
I think an ability to do custom bookmarks AND share them to other players or the game should be available after all imagine that 'special' view you discover being able to actually share it so others can add it to theirs and go there. Imagine the Sims4 gallery just for ED custom points of interest.

Button for relative mouse toggle (suggested by nabimejm and Modhar)
Never used this personally

Button for turret control (suggested by Modhar)
Another excellent suggestion

Sort Bookmarks into Folders (suggested by torbach)
Great idea or being able to import/export and store them in a file would be great too so we never lose them.

Slider for star sizes - meaning the 'dots' in the galaxy map (suggested by torbach)
Nice especially if there are loads of stars close together

Option to sort stored Modules by type, distance, class.. (suggested by vancenovells(reddit))
Good idea

Focus point of System map when opened (suggested by McSchwartz (reddit))
Definitely a good one

Option to sort available missions by destination. (suggested by McSchwartz (reddit))
Yeah there is always having to go through EVERY mission to see where they go it would be nice to have a button for 'see all missions going here' when you take on the mission.

Additional Volume sliders (suggested by JeffGofB(reddit))
Nice idea it would make it more appealing for people who are hearing impaired etc

Keybind for Docking Request (suggested by nickjowen(reddit))
This one should have been in before beta

Improvements of the Contacts Panel(suggested by PapaUniformFoxtrot(reddit)
Never had trouble hear myself with the target nearest hostile etc.

Combine Filters on Galaxy Map(suggested by PapaUniformFoxtrot(reddit)
Another nice idea.

Custom Colors for Galaxy Map Filters (suggested by PapaUniformFoxtrot(reddit))
Maybe extend this to the ENTIRE hud

[*]Make the docking computer a build in feature(suggested by karroq(reddit))
I would have this ALWAYS off as I never use a docking computer and ALWAYS dock at boost ;)

[*]Add more fire groups than just the two we got. (suggested by torbach)
We should be allowed at least 10 different options

Optional Internal that split into 2 (or more) sub-internals with half the size.
This harks back to the Frontier/FFE days where each ship had cargo space instead of slots, for me that was a much better system as the ships themselves had much more variety of configuration. Splitting internals wouldnt be required as it would have used space etc instead of slot size. Its one that I dont think will make it into ED for this reason alone.

Instancing: (Since it doesn't seem realistic in a foreseeable timeframe)
Instancing is bogus currently, especially in CG, or heavily populated systems. Who hasn't fought another CMDR, he flees into SC, you want to chase after him, but...waiting for 20 seconds in the loading animation :-( And I have got a very fast Internet connection.
The problem is of course, this has to do with server costs and stuff, so again, not sure if we can expect improvements here. But yeah, faster instancing with more CMDRS possible in the same instance would be awesome.
Never gonna happen as instancing is down to the first one in the instance after that people connect to them so if the "host" has a crap internet connection then everyone is going to have a rough time. Its been requested time and time again to move from peer to peer to server/client but this will also never happen as cost involved would make it a subscription service.

Now my input would be to allow for CQC style game to allow cmdr's to test builds they selected against opponents of their choosing. For example: Testing a pirate build against police, or a AX build against Thargoids all in a CQC arena. Basically this means we dont go "yay I built my uber ships" to fly out to x system to take on a opponent to find its no better than a Sidey with pulse lasers.

A bit late for a few of these, but trying to add them:

What do you mean with XP splitting? NPC permadeath is a good one, as it doesn't makes sense for them to die.

I like all these ideas, including the edits to date. Except I don't know what you mean by combat logging but you're probably right on that too.

A few of those are very good, will add them later!

Wouldn't that be pretty much number 19 of the current list?

What would be the use case for that? So you can bring/buy stuff for your friends? This seems a bit problematic in terms of balancing I guess...

saved camera setting(s) / custom view(s)

- 2 stored views /w hotkey
- put camera where you want and toggle between views :D
- or retain last position (rather than being reset; i know this has been asked before)

also the cam has collision, in 3rd person during a ram my cam can be pushed around..
a saved position helps this a lot, but perhaps a 'rubber band' system that lerps back to the stored setting?

I have one, a HOME button on the left hand nav panel.

I would assume most of us operate out of a home station right. But even doing a simple haulage mission, you fly to the destination (after opening the GalMap and then the System map to plot your route). Do what you have to do, then repeat the entire GalMap process just to fly home.

Why can't we have one unique bookmark you can use to identify your home station. That information is loaded into the ships system, so when you open up the left hand nav panel, there is an button or menu option called 'Home' - click on that and your route is automatically planned to your designated home system.

Clogging

Combat logging is quite a difficult issue to deal with but would probably be less of an issue if players could feel like they are contributing to a community goal without suddenly being under threat by one of the community that they though they were helping I will admit I have tried to attack a bounty once only to hesitate because it was a player and I know without a doubt they were at the same event trying to bounty hunt too but they must have accidentally hit an authority vessel and attained a small fine of 700 credits so feeling empathy I let that one go. And in my early days before I knew what I was doing there was always that one guy with his newly kitted or engineered ship that could outrun my best ship so I was left with but one option and it wasnt running it was clogging.

For me (and I've written about that a few times) griefers and other players in general at CGs make the game more interesting due to the danger. But: 1. It's easy for me to say with ~1500h clocked and more than enough rebuys and 2. this thread shouldn't be a discussion about griefing or ganking. The point is, that the possibility to clog is a broken game mechanic. As far as I understand it es due to the way the game servers work (peer-to-peer?) and therefore not too easy of an thing to solve.
But maybe there could be a other solution. Maybe, while the servers can't prevent clogging, they at least can recognize it and flag the player resulting in a fine or something? I don't know, but the current situation is certainly not the best.

What if Players were not responsible for the rebuy on their ship so long as they had no bounty but rather the game covered their cost as a form of sympothy to this plight or perhaps the aggressor becomes responsible for the target they have caused damage to. I dont want to perpetuate the discussion of griefers but merely offer a temp hotfix to a common exploit. Anyway thanks for listening and responding your feedback was appreciated.

A way to see where I have done missions (gained reputation, quite a lot of it) but I can't remember the name of the system. No way I can find out.
That I know of.
In Galaxy map filters, maybe have a "Reputation" filter.
